It's that time of the year again to plan and announce this years Jeep-CJ trail ride in south-western Colorado.
This year we'll use Ouray Colorado as our base.
The trail rides will be from August 5th to the 9th.

Sunday August 4th at 6:30 we'll meet at O'Briens Pub at 726 Main St in Ouray

A typical day of trail rides: We eat breakfast at 8 am. Some motels have some sort of breakfast otherwise join us at a restaurant to be decided the night before.
We leave town at 9 am. Make sure your tank is already filled the night before.
Every day seems to be sunny and warm in town. As we climb into the mountains it gets cool. Bring layers and a rain jacket. It often rains in the afternoon.
We eat lunch on the trail. It's nice to bring a small cooler to carry a sandwich and water. If you don't have a small cooler several members often have a cooler larger than necessary. They are always willing to keep your lunch fresh.

Where to stay? Here are some options:
Quality Inn - Many of us stay here. Good rooms at a good price.
Expect to pay $167 per night or more.

Box Canyon Lodge
Expect to pay $179 per night or more.

Matterhorn Inn
Expect to pay $141 per night or more.
Matterhorn Inn Motel - Ouray, Colorado 81427 (970) 325-4938

I don't want to commit us to these specific trails but here are our tentative plans.
Monday: Yankee Boy Basin and Governor Basin
Tue: Engineer Pass
Wed: Black Bear and Imogene passes
Thur: Poughkeepsie Gulch
Fri: Corkscrew Pass

Some of the pictures may look pretty challenging but there are always bypasses or a completely alternate trail ride for the day. I don't want anyone to feel intimidated. I encourage beginners to join us. You won't regret it.

Back on the 4th Colorado Trail Ride I took a back seat in 007 and Bass/Oldjeeplady’s Jeep/Explorer. I wasn’t able to bring my CJ that year and they were kind enough to let me join them. Last year CJ rode gun with Dave and shooby.

If interested there may be an open seat, heck if there is a seat open I’ll take it for a few hours and you can wheel my Jeep. Just saying.

I'm in, been planning this trip before I got my CJ home!

I'm looking forward to meeting you. These trail rides are always a great time. The more the merrier. :chug:

We’ll be there this year! Thats the current plan! :chug:

Yes. Uncle and brother and wives. 3 jeeps. 2 cj’s and my brothers newer jeep, but still has round headlights :chug: we’ll be motorhoming again probably same camp just north of town

Finalizing plans then booking. Wheres the closest airport? My wife may need to fly in later

Great that your whole group is coming! Did you get that 360 installed?
Year before last our youngest son flew into Montrose on Wednesday night and wheeled with us for two days. Oh yeah, you were there. I think that's the closest airport to Ouray.

Still building the 360, but plan to have it in for the trip. I’m needing some new rims and tires too, but may need to get 2 sets. Lost a lot of tread towing to and from last year. Don’t know if i want to rent a trailer...

Been looking for the new KM3’s. Love the KM2’s off road!

I put in for the vacation time still trying to iron out the details with my wife, but i will be there.

We've got quite a few participants. Nine participants for sure so far and it's only January.
:chug:
This'll be a good year.

Wow! Looks like we're up to 12 Jeeps already! This is going to be a great ride!

Got a room reserved at the Quality Inn.

:D
