The front look is real cool.The door frame look too thick The roll bars should be integrated with the soft top with side glass/panels removable & storable on the rear door pocket.The rear should have rolldown glass. The whole soft top will be much simpler and small. That would be moving to the 21st century design.

Hey quit fooling around! Give us a Scrambler small pick up on the Unlimited frame with a Rubicon package and a turbo diesel. Jimminy Cricket - what do you have to do to get a real Jeep that can do more things well and still live with the price of fuel?!

I saw the pic.. first thing I thought, "they messed up, that's a two door Rescue" the proportions for the axle, winch, mirrors, and other stuff are wrong for it to be Wrangler sized. Just someone else stupid enough to believe edited photos (or that a Rescue two door) could be a Wrangler. I wish they'd proof their stories before printing them trying desperately to scoop the competition" It does look nice, though.

Jeep should do what Land Rover does with the Defender, you have the 90, 110, 120, 140, etc.

Just take the Rescue and stretch it or shrink it to build the Wrangler, Unlimited, Scrambler, truck, four doors, two doors, etc. That way everyone has very capable jeep to fit their needs.

Cool, photoshop is cool, computer transformations are cool, and if the new Wrangler looks similar to that, way cool. As long as the proportions stay close to the same.

Now if DC would only give us the
D and the six speed MANUAL transmission ...

Sounds like they aren't changing too much & that's a good thing!!! Though I've always felt, an in-line Diesel engine option is way over do - What a great matchup this would be for the "American Legend" we've all come to know & love!!!

I also have the AUG Car&Driver. It is definately an artist's rendering...The chassis and wheels/tires are lifted from present Rubicon..and yes..maybe the Jeep will stay solid axle..but I doubt it..Just the ease of manufacture and platform/bin sharing that's common in this day coupled with the fact that NEW Side-Impact standards are in effect in 2007/08 will require an update on the TJ..I believe they're developing a new body(outsourced) now...I would go as far to say..the hardtop will be INTEGRAL..and hence NOT Removable....New FED rollover standards...Dunno we shall see how DCX will meet the requirements while still keeping that Jeep Heritage...It's for sure A VERY FINE LINE.. The TJ'S next incarnation Probably will be based on LIBERTY..IFS/CV axles w/ maybe solid axle in rear....Dunno?..Anyway I'm Keeping my 95 YJ anyway and will be looking for a 01 Cherokee...because these 'ol dawgs will be hard to get once these new improved safer and watered-down JEEP JUNKS start clogging the roads..KEEP THE OLD JEEP HERITAGE ALIVE!!! R.I.P. Wrangler,Cherokee,Grand Cherokee(93-04) and last but not least 63-91 Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer!!!!

The Defender is going IFS and becoming more "civilized."

The front end should look like that I bet. I am thinking the rescue concept was a wrangler concept in gaint form. The nose of the 05 liberty renegade has a flat hood and headlights like that, but the turnsignals are fog lamps. I would also like to bet that the axles on the wrangler stay solid. Jeep is designing a "car" for people that want the look, without the strength.

iF THEY ARE CLOSE TO THIS CONCEPT, IT WILL BE A SMASHING SUCCESS!!!!! IFS OR NOT JEEP MUST MOVE FORWARD WITH NEW TECHNOLY. i'M BUYING ONE, BUT I WILL KEEP MY 2004 TJ!!!!

I saw that in my car and driver too ... knowing what they do with those kinds of concepts, we won't see the integrated winch on many showroom floors. Many real jeepers would likely want to get their own winch anyway. Which brings me to my point, with few major structural changes, some other minor improvements, and if they keep it easy to customize it'll do fine. The new doors look nice and I would have to assume they would still come off, but really the biggest thing in my opinion is customization. I'm glad the kept the overall body boxy ... it's a lot easier for an amateur to customize and repair a flat surface.
