A photo of the next Wrangler hits newsstands There is a photo of the next-generation Wrangler in the August, 2004 print edition of Car and Driver Magazine. One of our sharp-eyed readers notes: 1) Looks like solid axes are still there 2) Body similar to current TJ, but nose is slightly slanted. 3) Looks like it is still body on frame, not uni-body. 4) Windshield slightly curved, and might not be made to be lowered. While the photo hasn't appeared on CarAndDriver.com yet, they do have this to say about the forthcoming Wrangler: Aside from the 10.0-inch wheelbase stretch that distinguishes the Wrangler Unlimited from the standard vehicle, the quintessential Jeep looks pretty much the same as it did in 1997, the year of its last major makeover. There's good reason for this. To the hard-core faithful, when you say, "There's only one Jeep," this is the Jeep you're talking about, and you mess with it at your peril. Nevertheless, there are persistent hints of some modest cosmetic and functional updates in the near future including: revised door framing, round side mirrors, subtle redefinition of the front bumper with its integrated winch, and headlamps with siamesed turn signals. No hints on possible timing, but our best guess is 2006 as an early '07 model.
