SalesChrysler Plans to Reduce Product Line

In the Wall Street Journal their article indicates that in a few years, the three brands together will probably offer a total of 15 or 20 -- roughly six cars, six trucks and six sport-utility vehicles. The big key is eliminating the duplicate vehicles that are in the 3 lines.

For example, the Liberty and the Nitro are duplicates as well as the Compass and Caliber. You can see some obvious chopping, but which one? Will this mean the JT Wrangler pickup truck is out? Will Jeep switch to being exclusive off-road vehicles, Dodge being trucks, and Chrysler just the car line? It will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Chrysler Plans to Reduce Product Line
Well, if they're looking at deduplication of the product line, I'm wondering if this is the announcement that will scuttle the Commander to the Jeep history books. Hopefully if Jeep is only going to be responsible for "off-road" vehicles, we'll see a more trail worthy Patriot, Liberty and GC.
