The most capable off-road vehicle in the world — the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler — made its debut at the North American International Auto Show here today. Seconds later, the legendary American icon left its own party.
After breaking out of a cage and appearing onstage, the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler drove offstage, through the auto show display area, into the Cobo Center lobby and smashed through the front window. The all-new Wrangler then climbed down a flight of Cobo Center stairs, proceeded up Washington Avenue and scaled the outdoor stairs at Detroit's Pontchartrain Hotel, before confidently climbing Jeep Mountain.
"Jeep is the 'go anywhere, do anything' brand, and the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler demonstrated that right out of the gate today," said Jeff Bell, Vice President – Jeep, Chrysler Group. "Simply put, it is the best Jeep Wrangler ever. No vehicle in the world offers more off-road capability. Our all-new Jeep Wrangler offers more on-road refinement, space, comfort, open-air options, power, torque, safety and convenience."
Today's all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler reveal marks the second time a Jeep vehicle introduction at the North American International Auto Show included outdoor activity. Fourteen years ago, at the 1992 show, a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee drove through Cobo Center's front window, marking its debut. Jeep is the only brand that has utilized the outdoors as part of a North American International Auto Show vehicle introduction.

![]() That's how you debut a legend. Would've loved to have been there to see that live. Awesome.

![]() WTF! No Diesel in the US?
From the Jeep site: http://www.jeep.com/07wrangler/index.html?CMP=AFC-Autoshow Check out the Full Specifications towards the bottom right. Under Available Equipment 2.8L direct-injection, common-rail Diesel Engine (export only) 5-speed 545RFE optional with diesel engine (export only) Once again the corporate bean counters have decided that Americans won't make an intelligent choice if given the option, or maybe OPEC inspired (paid) them to keep us burning on DinoFuels instead of biodiesel. |

![]() This is what I've been waiting for! I wasn't sure if I was going to trade my X in for a 06 Rubicon or an 07 Rubicon. I'll definately hold out for the 07. Best thing about it... Its red! Can't wait to see the 4 door...and pick-up? versions!
Glitter, glam and LED displays aside, the good folks at DCX and Jeep show that the little ole' Wangler has more style than most of the polished and shinny show room princesses. Jeff Bell proved that actions speak louder than press conferences. |

![]() Hopefully this does not lead to a bunch of copycat crimes of people driving their new Wranglers through plate glass windows.
![]() I do like the new Wrangler. Obviously there is a bit of a change from the TJ but I do not think there is too drastic a change. That is important. No matter if the Liberty, Grand Cherokee and Commander take on a more luxurious ride (while still remaining the most off-road capable vehicles in their class), the Wrangler should (and apparently has) maintain it's no nonsense, unbeatable, off-road legend status. |
