Wrangler2007 Wrangler Production Officially Starts Today
Posted by mike on 2006/8/28 8:03:36 (1097) reads

Despite the fact that production of the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited began back on July 24th, "official" production of the 2007 Wrangler kicks off today in Toledo, Ohio.

Freep.com has more:

Chrysler Group plans to launch production of the 2007 Wrangler at its new Toledo Supplier Park today.

It began making the new four-door Wrangler Unlimited on July 24. The Wranglers are expected to roll into U.S. showrooms this fall.

Chrysler executives and dealers expect the new version of the original Jeep to help broaden the appeal of the traditional brand, from its loyal off-road base to drivers who like the rugged look but need a practical and comfortable everyday vehicle that can accommodate more passengers and cargo.

"There's a lot of excitement about the new Wranglers," said Steve Demers, general sales manager at Cueter Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Ypsilanti. "It's going to be a little more practical application. The addition of space is going to be an added convenience. We have a contact list, once the vehicle arrives, of people that are waiting for it to get here."

Had a chance to drive a preproduction 2007 Wrangler Sahara diesel (export model) this weekend. What a dream! Let's hope the diesel makes it into production for the US. The four door drove incredibly with smooth agility and the engine was surprisingly responsive for a small diesel. I could definitely live with this vehicle.

I can hear a chorus of echoes: "IT'S ABOUT TIME!"

I find it odd that DCX started the 4dr production before the 2dr. Usually variants are done later in a new product launch. Maybe the thought was the 4dr could be slightly more problematic, so once that was debugged, the 2dr would be a piece of cake...

Either way, we're ready & waiting anxiously.

I think they did it because there's more demand for the 4-dr than the 2-dr, at least initially.

Probably a little of both.

The 4 door is definitely going to attract a lot of the Liberty owners (hence why the new Liberty is getting a completely different design that looks more like a baby Commander or LR3) and perhaps some Grand Cherokee owners.

Well ive been waiting for the new wrangler as it would make loading the family much easier with 4 doors. I currently own an unlimited rubi with 15K I trully like. Kinda dissapointed though with the dealer. I stopped by the dealer last week to pre-order one. Well forget about incentives right now none are available and they were asking like $30K for the sierra hardtop and only wanted to give me like $15K for my rubi ive owned for 20 months... I guess i gotta wait for all the gotta have it people to pay sticker or over that to get a discount price....still gettin way beat up on my trade which i paid $26K less than 2 years ago and baby the jeep and keep her in the garage and just run to the store and back and so forth....with gas getting around $3 the sales guy said its hurting suv sales and trades. I then told the sales guy im buying another suv, lol, he says yes buts its a new vehicle and in demand...lets see what he says in a year...as more and more i see the little cars running around.....i dont like to think someone is trying to send their kids to college on one sale to me but kinda getting that feeling when working with this dealer.....maybe a lost cause and will get one in a couple of years but at least ive got a jeep and a darn nice one.....

well jeep warehouse has the best prices so far...I can pick up a loaded rubi 4door auto hardtop for $29,700 and a sierra auto loaded out for $27,300...and the X loaded out the way i want for $25,500 although thats what i paid for my rubi with auto and soft top in Jan. 05 I still may wait cuz i know with time the incentives will hit the wrangler probably by next summer, however, if my dealer will match these prices instead of giving me the whoha that they are going for $1,000 over MSRP just maybe we can make a deal and I'll sell mine on the street.....
