Evening guys!

I recently bought a full set of 5 Jeep Renegade slotted wheels. I drove round trip about 275 miles to get them, hoping they were the real deal! It appears that they are. The "FORGED" stamp is there as well as the part number. What I don't have are the lug nuts. Could someone please tell me what the proper lug nut is for this wheel? These are really cleaning up nicely, especially for their age and I can't wait to have them mounted. I believe they are one of, if not the best looking wheel ever to be put on a CJ!

Thanks!!
DJ

Thanks brother! I was told that they would carry a washer. That kinda had me confused.

The Renegade slot mags on my 1971 Renegade II required a shank style nut with a washer.. I had the originals so had some measurements to go by. Even with that they where hard to find as they weren't a common size.
The 1/2-20 thread is easy but you will need the shank dia. and length plus the correct washer to make it all work. The '71 ren II wheels were made by American Racing . I found many, many lugnuts that were close but not correct so don't give up. In the end I got them from EBAY. mike

How about some photos of your wheels. that would really help us see what style wheel and lugs you are looking for.

Mstar is correct! :notworthy:
Even tho you clearly stated slotted and forged. My little brain cell was reading as steel and some alloy wheels(my Eagles)use those lug-nuts I listed.
The OEM, AMC Jeep alloy wheels use the stepped/shoulder nuts-
SORRY for MY error

This looks close to the OEM 'step' lug-nuts for alloy wheels.

Thanks guys! I will try to get some photos posted today.

Tried several attempts at posting a couple pictures from Dropbox and Photobucket. I keep receiving an error 520 server and invalid file message. I'm using the IMG, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'll try again later.

Not sure what happened, but the photos are there! I really want to be sure I get the correct lug nuts for these wheels. I hope the pictures are sufficient enough that someone can tell me what I need!

Just looking at the lug holes, it doesn't seem like there would be enough room for the nut to have a shank, shoulder or whatever the correct term is. The diameter just isn't that large. Plus, the hole is tapered so would a washer even be used? I guess these are elementary observations and questions, but I certainly prefer to seem a little foolish than to lose a wheel going down the road and remove all doubt!

After seeing those pictures. I feel certain that the link in my first post here, has the correct lug nuts.

I believe so too LG! I'm thinking about sending them to a wheel specialist (AWRS) to have them checked out, just to make sure there are no cracks that I can't see or warping. I believe they're in really good shape considering their age, but I would like for them to look their best. It took a while to find a set of 5 that the owner wasn't wanting my first born child for! I just stumbled up on these, called the guy and we had a lot in common, so he agreed to hold them until I could see them.
Thanks again for taking time to read/respond to my posts! You, and others here have been a tremendous help to me since I joined the forum. I greatly appreciate it!

UPDATE: Had the tires/wheels swapped over this morning and ran into trouble. The fronts wheels are scrubbing on the calipers. Looks like wheel spacers are in my future. I had to swap back the fronts to get it home. So frustrating!! On the positive side......They look great! Any recommendations on spacers? I'm thinking 1.5" which should push the tires out closer to the edge of the flares and would look better since it so narrow now.

Why not grind down the caliper where needed.

I tried that and it help some but its still scrubbing. I wasn't sure how much grinding I could do.

Post up a picture or 2, for us all to see.
This is not uncommon at all.

I measured the backspace on the wheels. The ones I removed were 3.5" and the Renegade's were 4." I guess that makes a lot of difference!

Grind a 45* angle chamfer, about 1/4" wide on the outside leading edge of the calipers.
Your front tires will most likely hit the frame and springs, at a full-lock turn.
Your rear wheels my rub the inner wall of the wheel well when the suspension is worked hard.
