Hello All,
Need a lil insight on what a 1981 CJ5 is worth in a total basket case.
Had a 304 from the factory but was scrapped due to cracks.
Was going to put a 5.7 chevy in it but have lost interest and have other projects that I want to get to. The Jeep is mostly disassembled and needs a lot of TLC. the frame has 2 cracks but is repairable if someone wanted to save it.
The frame has no rust issues just the 2 cracks. It has the stock front and rear axles and the old 4 speed and dana 300 are still in tack.
Nothing has been cut or welded on for the new motor so for the purist it could be put back together with another 304 or 360. It has 35's on which only have a few miles on them and a soft top that is only a few years old.
I know it's not a gold mine but want to find a good value otherwise I will start parting it out. Attached are some pics.
Thanks, Brian

When were the tires purchased?
There is a date code on the sidewall.

I know the tires were purchased in late 2012. The code is 3111 so they were manufactured 31st week of 2011

I might be wrong and hate to say it, but you will likely get more from parting it out. Whats the engine's status, JY or crate motor? Which 4spd? I couldn't see paying over $2k based on the sheer amount of unknowns and your own admission of needing a lot of TLC.

Agreed that I could probably get more for it parting it out and may go the way but if someone wanted to make me an offer and give me something reasonable and save me some time I would listen. Just need to move on as quickly as possible.
Thanks for the input.
