This isn't a T18, by chance? Out of an '87 Ford 1/2 ton pickup

Local seller...waiting on him to get me pics of the stamping, thought I'd ask while I waited

Shape doesn't look quite right to me, based off the pics I've seen...Novak, etc

The T18 doesn't have that pronounced butterfly shape on the bellhousing side. I don't think the NP435 has it either. And both of those transmissions have a PTO port on the passenger side.

IMO, it looks a lot like the T170 series Tremecs that Ford used. Not sure if they were still being used in '87 or not, but they are very similar to the T176/T177/T178 used in Jeeps.

This is an early ford T18 but the pattern is the same on the later ones.

The T170 was a top loader transmission. Ive been racking me brain trying to ID this transmission. Even googled cant seam to find out what it is.it could be a t176 that someone installed in a ford has the butterfly pattern

Several versions of the T170 series were used in Fords. Some with external shift rail and some were a top shift. My money's still on a T170

I didn't know that they made a external shift rail on the t170.

Looks like the T176 in my CJ5.
Not positive!
Any other pictures?

I get it, I'm a Jeep owner and ad-block detectors kinda stink but ads are needed on this site. This is a CJ site, all the ads are set for autos (some times others get through.) I cannot make them just for Jeeps but I try.
