I have a leak in something. The fluid is coming out of this hole right below the axle. Does anyone have any idea why this hole is here or why there's fluid coming out of it??

^^^:agree:

Had the same evidence with mine as well.

And the title of the thread made me laugh.....

Did you remove the bolt, or did it go missing?
Outer axle seal.

That is a drain hole, and is OEM on the 20 rear. No bolt ever went there.
You have a bad inner axle seal and bet your brake shoes are oil soaked too.
I would stop driving it till fixed........You may well have a dying axle bearing.

Thanks, only worked on an AMC20 once to install 1 piece shafts for a friend, forgot about the empty hole.

I try NOT to work on those 20's at all....

check your brake wheel cylinder as well it might be whats leaking

as mentioned check both the wheel cylinder and axle seal how ever make sure to replace in pairs. if its the wheel cylinder dont be cheap replace the other one as well even if its not leaking at the moment the same is true with the seal. to many times i have seen someone get cheap and only do one side just to have to do the work all over again to do the other side and them complain that the shops work was shooty. best of luck with your project
