The '79 headlight adjusters nut where stripped out. Driver's side headlight was pointing about 5 feet in front of the jeep. Found the plastic nut was stripped on the up and down adjustment. After searching the web, thought it just needs some threads. Solution was the smallest zip tie inserted into the hole and the bolt threaded down into it. Issue addressed. Went to adjust the left and right...stripped too. Same solution, small zip tie, thread bolt in, fixed. Now wait until dark to adjust headlights.

You know they sell new ones depending on what style you have

Yes, the web search showed me those. I picked up zip tie drops from the shop floor for free! If the cheap solution does not work, I will order up the parts. If this works, I fixed the part for nothing. I think it will be fine.

I tried the zip ties on mine while they worked for a bit my lights also bounced around on the rough road

Hmm. Maybe I did not explain it well. Should have taken a picture. The zip tie is not holding the headlight in place. The piece of zip tie is replacing the threads in the hole. I threaded the adjuster bolt into the hole with the zip tie end giving the zip time adjuster some plastic to grab. The adjuster bolt is holding the headlight in place and functioning as the adjuster. If this is what you did then I expect my results will be the same.

No mine were beyond savable and the zip ties were pulling double duty. I think I know what you did u kinda used the zip ties as a helicoil
