Why are the front seats located at different distances from the tub?

In which direction?

That’s a good question. If you are running factory risers, then I would think they’d be symmetrical. Unfortunately I am running highly modified YJ risers and Jeep Liberty seats. I centered mine up during the fabrication process. Need to find someone with all factory stuff and see what they say.

You would have to ask those very old now, Jeep engineers. By the time they got to the YJ they solved that problem by moving the steering column over to the left some.

But the left seat is about two inches closer to the edge of the tub than the right seat.

It's so you can get out faster than the passenger😁

never noticed this on my CJ7 could be true, wont bother me at all lol

I get it, I'm a Jeep owner and ad-block detectors kinda stink but ads are needed on this site. This is a CJ site, all the ads are set for autos (some times others get through.) I cannot make them just for Jeeps but I try.
