Dana 300 clutch sleeve question

I've read that the clutch sleeves in the dana 300 have a front and back (ie) thick and thin flange that should go thick to large gear. How important is this. I hope not too!
 
Well after lookin all over for info and finding none other than its mention and not really seeing any real difference in engagement I've moved on I decided not to repress bearings reseal unit to redo something not confirmed as necessary.
but hard to believe not even an opinion on the subject.
