I have a 82 CJ7, 258, T5 doing a rebuild frame up (mostly to fix frame and body). I am upgrading the carb and distributor. Already purchased the carb it's a webber 32/36 and getting the CRT hei distributor. My question is should i replace on at a time to get fuel ration correct then do timing? the stock set up the engine ran really rich but ran and idled fine. This is my first post here. mostly can search and find exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd do them one at a time so if you had any problems you would just have one system to troubleshoot instead of two. I did both of these upgrades neither one was too bad a job. I did the hei install first, set the timing with old carb. Installed the webber carb and the jeep fired right up. I could tell a big difference just reving it up sitting in the garage.

I get it, I'm a Jeep owner and ad-block detectors kinda stink but ads are needed on this site. This is a CJ site, all the ads are set for autos (some times others get through.) I cannot make them just for Jeeps but I try.
