1970 Cj 5 dauntless 225
hi, anybody have a dauntless 225 with headers? Does it sound good or like a go cart?

I have heard them uncorked and with very low restriction exausts, go-cart is a good description. For the short CJs that is a fine engine on the street, rocks, or dunes.

Yes I have a 225 odd fire with headers and mufflers out the sides. To me it sounds good, only problem is one side sounds very different then the other. The drivers side sounds very healthy. On the passengers side it's very quiet . I myself am not sure if this should be as such. I bought it and only ran it long enough to hear for my lower end klanking sound that turned out to be a bad timing chain. If your interested in hearing it I could post a Vid on YouTube for you. It don't seem to many guys on here care to chime in on post a out the dauntless. Hit me up if you want to pick my brain.

:)It's an Odd fire........and sounds a little rough and lope's.........So what? One of the best motors for a short CJ5...........if you don't like the rough sound put an Even Fire Buick V6 in............

Mine has stock exhaust going out the back corner, afraid I'm not much help.
