Trans 1980s Drive Train conversion to 1970s

1977 CJ7 has AMC 232, Borg Warner SR4 trans, and Dana 300 transfer. Verified 1977 by VIN. I want to keep the Dana 300, but replace the transmission and engine. I’ve thought about staying AMC - T18 trans and 360 engine. But I would need a new bell housing, right? What would be my easiest and least expensive swap? GM 350 and SM465? Ford T18 and 302? Or try to stay all AMC?

I'd say a lot depends on what you do/intend to do with it...that's where I'd start
