A major auto magazine recently posted their forecast for the future of some vehicles to be produced in the next few years.

MotorTrend.com recently posted their forecast for the future of some vehicles to be produced in the next few years. In addition to the 2005 Porche 998 (350-450 hp), 2005 all-new Subaru Sport/utility wagon, and the hybird 2005 GMC Yukon, they also have some interesting things to say about future Jeeps:

2003 Jeep Wagoneer: Previously, the classic Wagoneer nameplate was predicted to return for an all-new, full-size sport/utility bearing some design elements from the Jeep Commander concept vehicle. However, changes as DaimlerChrysler have suggested that this model line slot may be filled in 2005 by a stretched version of the next-generation Grand Cherokee.

2003 Jeep Wrangler: A significant update to the TJ Wrangler will likely adapt the drivetrain and possibly the independent suspension from Liberty.

2005 Jeep Wagoneer: The classic Wagoneer nameplate may be resurrected for an extended version of the Grand Cherokee forecasted for 2005, not all-new full-size sport/utility as previously projected for 2003. The added length will permit for a third seating row. The 4.7-liter V-8 will likely provide base power, but expect a larger 5.7-liter engine to be available.

2005 Jeep Wrangler: Redesigned. Expect styling cues to draw heavily from Jeepster and Willys concepts.

After the hard-core Jeeper backlash about the Liberty using independent suspension, we can't even begin to imagine the potential backlash if DaimlerChyrsler decides to move the Wrangler to independent suspension as well.
