The 2004 Grand Cherokee gets a facelift, a custom Jeep pickup makes an appearance at the SEMA show.

We've just had a spy send us some detailed information regarding the 2004 Grand Cherokee, with production to begin in January, 2003. While this will not be a complete redesign of the GC, it will feature a significant number of changes to the nameplate. Here's a rundown:

  • All new front fascia
  • GPS Navigation option
  • Two new exterior colors: Midnight Blue and Lava Red

Both the 4x2 and 4x4 Laredos will see some significant changes as well. The 4x2 will gain a "Special Edition", with a look similar to the Limited. The 4x4 Special Edition will also have a similar look of the Limited along with fog lamps, Quadra Trac II, and a 10-CD changes with the Infinity speaker package. Quadra Trac I will also be available as a no-charge option.

Changes to the Grand Cherokee Limited will include:

  • New perforated leather seats
  • New front grille appearance
  • Improved Chrome wheel option

Finally, the flagship, Grand Cherokee Overland will gain a 4x2 model with new seats, chrome tow hooks, as well as a new grille appearance.

Finally, one of our readers checked in with a report from the Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA) regarding a "Jeep Brute" - here's what he had to say:

Just returned from SEMA where I viewed Jeep Brute pick-up truck. Imagine a TJ cut off just aft of the front seats and made into a pick up style cab with hard top and full doors and a small pick up bed. Along with that was a Rubicon style drive train with Dana 44's front and rear. It was all red and looked GREAT!!

Was anyone else at SEMA who saw this who may have gotten a photo or two? If so, send it to jeepnews@OneToMany.com!
