Could Bluetec Grand Cherokee Hint At WK's Upcoming Refresh

If you looked closely at the BLUETEC Grand Cherokee concept that was recently released you will notice some subtle design differences compared to the production WK.

The most notable is a redesigned front fascia that does away with the thin plastic apron found on the production model. Instead, the bumper has been made fuller and smoother which gives it a much more finished look.

As the Grand Cherokee is headed for a design refresh within the mid-2007 or 2008 model year, could this be a hint at where it is headed?

According to an official press release, DaimlerChrysler has pioneered a group-wide initiative for advanced clean diesel powertrains called BLUETEC. The technology will be capable of producing the cleanest diesel vehicles in the world and has the potential to meet the emission requirements in all 50 states. The Company is showing three BLUETEC concept vehicles this week at the Washington, D.C. Auto Show -- The Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC, the Vision GL 320 BLUETEC and the Jeep Grand Cherokee BLUETEC.
