Rumor: Renault Interested in Chrysler?

| Who could possibly imagine that the French might want to purchase something as American as apple pie and hot dogs?
Automobile.com is reporting that there were rumors circulating at the Paris autoshow that French car-maker Renault might be interested in taking Chrsyler off Cerebus' hands.Why would anyone want to buy an automaker that's hemorrhaging in sales to the point that a about third fewer cars are leaving Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep showrooms this year than last? Well, probably nobody, especially someone as savvy as Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, but then again, rumors don't just simply pop up because there's nothing to substantiate them, do they?
The rumors appear to stem from Renault's desire to re-enter the American car market and they fact that they'd need somewhere to sell their cars.
