 Jeep Sales Up 29% in April |

Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited posted sales of 10,776 units, up 75 percent compared to April 2006 with 6,154 units. The Jeep Patriot continued to gain momentum and finished April with sales of 2,904 units, up 38 percent from March 2007. The vehicle is one of Chrysler Group's recently introduced fuel- efficient offerings that achieve 30 miles per gallon or better in highway driving.

I stopped by saturday to check out the JK again...there were lots of 4x2's five 4x4's and no Rubi's.....I must say there were lots of folks checking out the JK while i was there.... I own an 05 rubi unlimited...but the new JK is very nice and if i could get a descent trade and close to invoice i would trade in a heartbeat...but alas this dealer acts like they want to make a good deal but in the end they want to steal the trade and keep the new vehicle at or close to sticker....i guess with JK selling like hot cakes they can do what they want right now....when it cools off i'll be back.... Darn it my neighbor just traded his liberty in friday for a maroon soft top 4 door sahara....now i have to look at it and wish.... LOL.... |

Re: Jeep Sales Up 29% in April Going by the numbers it does not look like people care too much about MPG anyway as the Wrangler is probably the least fuel efficient model in the lineup and is the best seller. My commander sucks gas like a top fuel drag car but with a family it's either pile into a small car that gets great mileage or ride in comfort and safety in our Commander and pay more for gas.
I agree with the previous poster. Fuel efficiency is not the only factor that should be looked at for determining the efficiency and overall operating costs of a vehicle. Simplet things like maintenance and repair costs top the list, however in a recent study the Wrangler is one of the lowest TOTAL cost vehicles on the planet, this is factoring in cost and energy needed not only while operating but from manufacture to disposal and everywhere in between. Hybrid vehicles are the highest as they use high cost batteries, electrical systems etc. It takes more energy to produce and dispose of the batteries than is saved by using them. Good to the consumer but bad to the planet overall. Want should we look at total cost or just MPG, i think total cost. The thing that gets me is that I hear so many people complain about high gas prices but they do little or nothing to make sure their vehicles get the best gas mileage possible. I see so many cars with near flat tires, this will kill your mileage. Many people don't keep their vehicles maintained which kills your mileage and most just need to slow down. Driving at 55-60 vs. 70-80 will make a pretty big difference. I think the national speed limit should be lowered back to 55 or 60. |

 The vehicle is one of Chrysler Group's recently introduced fuel- efficient offerings that achieve 30 miles per gallon or better in highway driving. That's misleading. The 4x2 Compass & 4x2 Patriot models TOP OUT AT 30mpg hwy. All the 4x4 models get less than that. And that's according to the EPA ratings on Jeep's website. There's no domestic Jeep offering with 31+mpg EPA. Next year, when the EPA changes the way the mpgs are estimated (more real world) all those numbers should drop... Then we get to hear all the granola bars come out of the woodwork & whine again...  But, who cares? The most important cost savings, by far, is not in a couple mpg, but keeping your car out of the dealership service shop! One visit to your dealership to get almost anything fixed (out of warranty) can cost hundreds, if you're lucky.  |
