Autoblog.com has an interesting article about an auto accident in Russia where a Jeep go tinto an accident with a trailer carrying a Russian-made helicoptor (can you tell it's been a slllloooowww news week?).

In what is surely one of the more unusual traffic accidents reported in recent days, an unspecified 'jeep' crashed into a helicopter in Russia, close to the town of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski.

So... did some thrill-seeking Russian redneck out for a spot of stunt jumping in his 4WD clip an airborn Chinook? Well, not so much. Truth is, the chopper was being towed on a flatbed at 1:30 am on a fog-shrouded night, and the inebriated jeep junkie misjudged the width of the ground-bound aircraft.

I've got a great book about WWII (& just after WWII) Jeep prototypes. At one point they mated a Jeep to a helicopter --for real. I guess it actually flew. (I think it's called VINTAGE WWII JEEPS)

Maybe this was the Ruskies attempt to mate a Liberty & a helicopter...

I was flying a UH-1 Huey helicopter in Viet Nam when we had to make an emergency landing on a dirt road because the transmission oil filter gasket failed and we lost all the tranny oil. About 10 minutes later, an M151 Jeep came down the road, tried to get around the helicopter, and -- you guessed it -- ran into the tail boom. It left a two foot gash in the tail boom. The aircraft maintenance folks had to replace the gasket, refill the tranny and patch the hole so we could fly back to base.

Yeah, outside the US, "Jeep" can be practically anything. I regularly surf "jeep" tags in Flickr, and when Nissan Pathfinders and Mitsubishi Pajeros start showin' up, I have to bite my tongue. :)

I agree. My Brother-in-law thought he was in heaven when a new girlfriend siad she owned a "jeep" only to find it was Suzuki Samarai. She didn't last long.

Maybe they should use that in any up coming commercials for the 07 Wrangler.

"The all new 2007 Jeep Wrangler.......it's copter-proof."

Funny about the Suzukis. I was doing a search on Youtube for Jeep videos, and one of them was these guys rasiing hell in a bunch of Samarais. LOL!!
