One of our readers emailed us this tasty morsel:
Saw in Truck Trend Magazine that the new JT Pickup is being tested and is confirmed of a future production for this coming 2009. No name for JT has been found. Rumors it may claim a Retro-name such as Gladiator, Honcho, Scrambler or Comanche vs. a new name such as Brute. Too bad they didn't add Smallfoot, Blackfoot, Buckeroo, Rancher, Sasquatch, Bandit or Cowboy because it has a catch.
I don't get Truck Trend Magazine, so if someone can confirm this, that would be great. I searched their web site, but didn't see any references to the JT.

![]() Mike -- Looks like another vote is in order.
Q: What should the new "JT" be called? A: Scrambler A: JT A: JK-8 A: JKT A: Gladiator A: Honcho, Comanche, or some other stupid Southwestern sounding name. I think reviving the Scrambler name would be very retro-cool! ![]() ![]() |

Why is it that GM seems to think that there is a market for a rugged small pickup, while Chrysler has maintained that there is none? While I love the idea of the JT, I don't think that it's a flexible enough concept. I love the way the Gladiator concept was executed - I think it would be much more successful stylistically. To me, the Gladiator separated itself from the Wrangler as an independant vehicle much more than the JT does. They spent enough time researching a 4-door Wrangler variant, what happened to Jeep taking risks? I'm just dreading the days when Jeep finally does come out with a pickup and all that we will hear is how Jeep was following Hummer. I still hear from some that think the 4door JK resembles an H3. |

![]() I wouldn't necessarily call it a wussy truck, but I do think that given the heritage, Scrambler should be the name of a compact, Wrangler-based pickup.
That way, they can make a full-sized Gladiator on a larger platform (but hopefully keeping the styling)... |

![]() Use Scrambler for this wussy truck and leave the Gladiator name for a Wrangler based "man's" truck in the future.
