(Hopefully it's not the same one as "Star Trek: The Movie").
Executives from Chrysler LLC recently completed an eight city tour talking to over 3,000 dealers about their new "Project Genesis" initiative.
From the Chrysler media blog:
During the meetings the company introduced a new corporate initiative, Project Genesis, intended to align the needs and wants of the customer with its product portfolio and the dealer network. With the overall goal of taking care of the customer, Chrysler LLC plans to align Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge product offerings in one facility. The company did not provide a timeline for the initiative.
As Project Genesis evolves, the company will work with its dealers on a menu of options to create customer-driven alternatives that align the dealer network with the product portfolio.
"In the end, we will have a more viable dealer body focused on the customer," said Press. "When that happens, the customer, dealer and company wins. That builds commitment, drives profitability and builds franchise value."
Only time will tell what exactly this means for the Jeep brand. Do you think having all Chrysler products under one roof will help, hurt, or have no effect on Jeep sales?

![]() I guess I really have to admire Press. I mean you really can't say "In the end, we will have a more viable dealer body focused on the customer" without admitting that currently your organization is NOT focused on the customer! I have always heard that the first step towards solving your problems is to recognize that you have them. Let's hope they are not just blowing hot air.

![]() I do not see a problem here except for the Jeep dealers that most likley will be FORCED to sell Chrysler and Dodge., or some combination thereof.
The bottom line anyway, is the product, and then the dealer reputation. |

![]() I do not see any disadvantage to consolidation. Many of the local Jeep dealerships are already consolidated with other Chrysler divisions in this area.
I think it's going to take more than consolidation to help Chrysler in these times. If they want more of my opinion, they can ask for it. |

![]() It's been this way in Canada for as long as I can remember. Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep have been under one roof since AMC was bought out and axed. All you end up with is a sales staff that can't tell a Cherokee from a Rav4 and don't care to learn the difference. They'll refer to your Jeep as a "car" and pump up the "advantage" of independent front suspension, telling you that things have changed recently and Jeeps are now "as good as" those foreign SUVs... OH... and worst Wrangler sales pitch yet, "if you take off all 4 doors, it looks just like a Hummer... but cheaper."
Ugh... |

![]() I do not like the idea of all Chrysler products under one roof regarding Jeep sales. I think they should be separate and allow for market-specific focus. Sure, Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships are typically located next door or very close to one another, but they aren't under the same roof.
The way GM handled their methodology with Saturn and it's dealerships is how it could be handled with the Chrysler brands. Much as I hate those Land Mowers I do think that the way their dealerships are set up and the way they focus on their customers is a good one. |

![]() Good, so drop the Compass (keep the Caliber car and Patriot sort-of-SUV), drop the Commander and Aspen and Durango (and make the Grand Cherokee a 7 seater to differentiate it from the Liberty), drop the Sebring (keep the Avenger)...for starters...
