DaimlerChrysler has announced a recall for 1999-2002 model Jeeps while Liberty sales keep improving.
Jeep Recall
DaimlerChrysler is recalling over 1.1 million 2000-2002 Jeep Wranglers, 2000-2001 Jeep Cherokees and 1999-2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees that were manufactured between June 1998 and March 2002 due to a mainfold. design flaw.
On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with 4.0L engines, the design of the intake and exhaust manifolds could allow debris to accumulate at the #3 cylinder location, possibly resulting in a vehicle fire.
Dealers will install a manifold shield to modify the airflow characteristics and to prevent the accumulation of debris in the area of the #3 cylinder. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began May 13, 2002. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Liberty Sales Improving

Sales of the Jeep(R) Liberty rose to 13,243 units in the latest month. That result marked a 55 percent gain from year-earlier levels, which was the second month of sales for the new compact sport-utility.
