I finally got my jeep tonight! Mark, hang in there, I ordered mine Oct 6th and it just got to the dealer today.

It's AWESOME! Deep Beryl Green 6 speed manual. Check out the photo's I posted on the JeepUnlimted.com site under "Unlimited Rubicons on Hold" forum.

Is that right Jeff? There's a mention to it on an earlier thread.

Can't wait to see it in daylight AND on a dirt trail!

My LWB Rubicon has a build date of today, and it had the dual top option. I was assigned a build date sometime between last Wednesday and Friday because I called on Tuesday and was in "D" status, and on Friday had the build date. I was told that they will ship everything that's done before they leave on the 23rd so there's nothing in the shop sitting around.

Mine has dual black tops and is Impact Orange. Will post pictures on the JeepsUnlimited dot com webpage.

Glad to see people are getting thier LJ Rubi's! I ordered mine on 5 Oct, had a VIN in two weeks and STILL do not have a build date! Searches of dealer lot's using jeep.com turn up LJ Rubicon's with VIN numbers numerically higher then mine with same/simular options/colors. Makes me wonder what the hold up is on mine. I know for a fact others that ordered after me have recieved thier Rubicons!

Beginning to think there is a problem the dealership isn't telling me about, that or DC isn't telling them everything.

Latest update. "It's Alive!" My order went from D1 status to KZ. This implies that my order shipped Friday and is now on a railcar headed west. Sweet!

My dealer was able to print out a schedule showing me where it's at, Decatur Ill. yesterday, and that it should arrive in west Phoenix Dec 24t but won't leave the lot to arrive at dealer until 1/3/05.

You would think someone would want to get that order done before Dec 31st? We'll see.

Also: I ordered the dark khaki hardtop and will purchase the matching soft top separate at the dealer. Price negotiated. So those of you with dual top orders I can not confirm any change from the hold status.

Thanks Lance. I am going by the dealer today to pick up some parts I ordered. I'll check on my order status then. I'm just glad it looks as though D-C is finally moving forward again....just in time to stop for the break! ;-)

I test drove a 6 speed Unlimited Rubicon Saturday in Tucson AZ. Sweet!!! Over dirt piles with ease and I could'nt even justify using the lockers. Of course I kicked them in, just for the feel.

Why didn't I buy it? I'm just like alot of you, I have one on order (Oct 6th) and am waiting for delivery details. Supposedly shipped Dec 17th. It's "Deep Beryl Green" and it looks sweet! The dealer I went to yesterday had the DBG in an automatic. The Unlimited's look "right" with the Rubicon package.

I'm getting the DBG with 6 speed and all options except the smokers group and 6 disc changer.

Here's more. I went by a dealer in Phoenix this am and they had a light khaki automatic (sold) and silver 6 speed. I followed that dealer up with one in Tempe and they had 3 automatics.

They are coming!

Production slow downs should not effect orders to much. Nov. slow sales caused all this. As far as supplier problems on the unlimited rubicon have not heard that same story, they have been stopped and will resume in Febuary.

I ordered my rubicon Unlimited Nov 8 and it was finally built last week and shipped to a holding facility. It has been there for a week now and that was the final straw. I had no money down and told my dealer today I would not accept it when it came in. They will have a 31,250 dollar wrangler in their inventory now. I have three other Jeeps, been driving them forever etc.etc. It is killing me what has happened to this great brand. I am shopping for a suburban this afternoon I am done with DCX Jeep!

There are two Jeeps scheduled to debut in the future. One of which is the Compass as a 2006.5 and the other as the Scout in 2007.

Great news! I checked today and was given a build date of Monday, 12/20. The guy on the DC line said that they were most likely going to get it on a rail car before the 23rd b/c they take a break from the 24th to the 3rd and don't leave anything that's built sitting around while they're on break.

Again, mine's a 6 speed, every option except the cd changer, smoker's group and block heater. Impact orange with dual tops.

Jefferson, I'd be careful with the Beryl green - check out a Liberty in Beryl green...it's the same color. Personally I thought it was a little weak for a rubicon unlimited! But to each his own, if ya like it go for it. Just make sure ya check it out first if it's at all possible - a Jeep is gonna be around a while!

Good luck to all that are waiting! As a reminder, it was about 2 weeks between receiving a VIN and getting my build date. Also, it was probably 3-5 days before being accepted and about 10 days on D status before getting a VIN.

Im thinking of ordering a LWB Rubi but cannot decide what color to go with as i have not seen the new Beryl green. Im torn between the white and green......Does the green come with grey or black fender flares, the white comes with grey/top/fender flares. The dealer did not know and guess grey, if its grey im going white, if its black im going with green. Anyone here know.......

The 'Hater' rants ahve got to stop. I thoguht this site was for adults. Everyone's entitled to his opinion, wrong or right, but at least learn decent writing skills and state them appropriately and with a little bit of tact. I think the disclaimer that states that this site reserves the right to disallow anyone they want to for any reason from the forum is intended for junk like that.

That being said, I also am waiting on a LWB Rubi that I ordered November 12th. It is still in BG status as of last Friday. I was told it was a dual top issue. The drive shaft makes a little sense to me too though. I jsut wish someone at DC would come forward and just be upfront and let dealers know what the holdup is. I have some contacts in DC. I'll post more as I get more.

Currently they are on restriction for ordering which is normal for rubicons because they build them all at one time once a month.

There was an open air Liberty at the 2004 SEMA show. Looked OK, but the roll cage that was used to protect back seat passengers had a very "garage fabricated" look. I am not sure if it is the same Jeep referred to by RUBICONTRAIL.NET. I just don't want to see Jeep "cluttered" with variations. Jeep has never had a large lineup, and I think that may have been beneficial to their image. Basic SUVs, each specific to its own class. Once Jeep starts blurring the lines between its products, it becomes difficult for consumers to distinguish the advantages of one vehicle over the other in respect to their own needs.

Theres been an '05 Rubi Unlimited at my local dealer for a while... no buyers for the 30k price tag.

I think the open-air libby is a good variation, but keep in mind... with the open air libby, will there be a business case for a four-door wrangler? DC might not see a need for a 4DR WK if they go ahead with an open air libby. There might be a trade off hidden in there...

I ordered a Rubicon Unlimited on Nov 18th and it was assigned a VIN number about a week ago (around 12/10). However, it does not have a build status, and the gal at the DC Customer Service number today said it's "at the gate", which could be just an expression, or a slip indicating that it's sitting somewhere and isn't moving. She didn't know when it would get a build date, but I think mid January delivery is still realistic.

Compounding the problem is the 2-week union break over the holidays....

Ordered a Rubicon Unlimited on Oct.13 and was only told by dealer it's now on D status. Told will have by end of December. Mike's web site is giving me more info than dealer. From the look of things I expect mid January for delivery.

Well, I’m one of those lucky ones that has a Rubicon Wrangler Unlimited on order. Mine has been waiting for a build date for over a month. Every time I asked the ‘happy’ person in Customer assistance at DC what the status of my Jeep is, I would not get any answer as to what the hold up is. The parts issue makes sense, although I have also heard DC is idling various plants because there are too many cars waiting to be sold and shipped. Since it is just the Unlimited Rubicons that are on hold, my guess is the heavy duty drive shaft is the part that is in short supply. Oh well, maybe by the time my new toy arrives; Jeep will have a good incentive program like the rebate and 0% financing combo.

Like many die-hard Jeepers, I’m disappointed in the directions DCX has been taking Jeep. The KJ and future Compass/Scout are a bit soft compared to what I have always considered what the Jeep name meant, but on the other hand, if Jeep expands in these areas and makes the best in class for these, and still maintains a portion of the line for ‘true’ off-road capable vehicles, should we complain? DCX/Jeep is in the business to make money. Ultimately, we will help direct the direction of Jeep by what we spend our money on.

I can accept Jeep expanding into other territories, as long as they don’t blemish the Jeep name. It took many years to make the name ‘Jeep’ stand for something. The KJ is not the vehicle I would buy, but it does fit the needs of many others. In comparing the KJ to its direct competition, I still think it is one of the best in its class. If my choice is between the Liberty and the Ford Escape, I definitely would pick the Liberty.

The KJ is not like the old classic XJ (Cherokee), but in fairness, it was not supposed to. The KJ did bring in some new customers to Jeep, but unfortunately, Jeep lost some too. I wish Jeep had built both the XJ and KJ at the same time as originally planned. The good news is it looks like Jeep is potentially giving us a suitable XJ replacement with the future 4 Door Wrangler. Maybe the ‘suits’ at DCX see the error of their ways.

Speaking of the Liberty, I think the open air concept is neat. Maybe this is a hint what the 4-door Wrangler might be like.

You’ll never please everyone, and the next few years, Jeep is probably going to please some and disappoint others. Either way, it will be interesting to watch and see where Jeep goes.

Here Jeep goes again! The can't even keep producing the only real Jeep because of problems with suppliers. Deserves Jeep right. Now Jeep is going to make a vehicle even less capable then the KJ and WK while watering down the name of the old International Scout which was a real vehicle. Mark my words, I give Jeep 5 more years max before they crash and burn. Sales are dropping, they are producing worst vehicles and they continue to come up with more junk ideas. If they would just let someone with some real common sense run Jeep they might stand a chance if they start changing now.

An open air Liberty? Cool idea, but it is still a KJ. Jeep how about you just bring back the XJ, ax the whole WK idea and then we can all be happy. Maybe even built an SUT version of the XJ.

Hey Lance! I almost ordered the DBG, but decided on the Lt. Khaki at the last moment. I think the DBG is gonna look great! One question, did you order the Dual Top option? If you did, and your Rubi was in fact shipped on the 17th, then that's great news for all of us! I ordered the Khaki, with dual tops, 6-speed manual, and all other options. Mine was on hold (BG) status as of Friday a week ago. I am going to check today for an update.

I was checking carmax and there are 2 rubi unlimited on the lot in Atlanta with about 4K off sticker so around $26K. Unfortunately i was told to get the rebate i had to be a resident of georgia.... ;-( Now for any of you wanting just an unlimited their is a 04 being giving away at the carmax in LA for 19K....same applies about being a resident. No i dont work for carmax i live in texas and texas ran out carmax's selling new jeeps about 2 years ago so the only rubi unl. ive seen has a sticker over $30K and the dealer would not budge....

The open-air Liberty was developed by a ASC, Inc. not DaimlerChrysler.

I believe DaimlerChrysler will develop the Wrangler line further (possible four-door version, possible pickup) when the Wrangler is redesigned. If the next generation Wrangler does follow the design hints seen in the Gladiator concept, SFA will stay in use but safety features such as vehicle stability control and side airbags will be added.

I believe these vehicles will be geared as "best-in-production, beating all others" off-road vehicles.

I believe the Grand Cherokee, Commander, Liberty, and Scout will be geared as "best-in-class, beating all competition" off-road capable vehicles.

I ordered an Unlimited ( non Rubicon )the first week in Novemer and I did receive a build date and it is ( I am told ) awaiting a ship date so the hold up must be a Rubicon only part that is in short supply.

I think it is becoming clearer and clearer that DCX will expand the Jeep line both on the lower end ( the Scout ) and the upper end ( Commander / Grand Cherokee ) by going softer. Let's face it, you see a lot more Jeeps at the mall then out on the trails climbing rocks.

I hope that the next generation Wrangler will remain true to its roots as the go anywhere, do anything freedom vehicle. This should be their "halo" product which will stand what the Jeep marque stands for. I also hope they will spin off the platform with short and long wheelbases, a four door variant and a Scrambler / SUT version.

What really bad is i hate the KJ but now the ZJ that was a fine jeep. Just bring in the parts and keep me rolling and the rest of u can kiss my bumper.......
