Burnsville is doing a couple of CRD conversion on the JK's. The 2.8L CRD has already been done, and the 3.0L is slated to be done as soon as the engine is available. Check out the photos:
JK Motor Swap - 2.8L CRD Liberty Diesel
JK Motor Swap - 3.0 L CRD Diesel
The pricing is high compared to standard V8 swaps, but as more of these are performed, I'd expect pricing to come down a bit.

![]() The 3.0L CRD is preferable because of its better grunt, but it has to burn S15 and it has more pollution controls (maybe a urea crartridge, too...but I'm not sure if that's been decided).
The 2.8L CRD is preferable because it burns S500, is tried & true, and has fewer pollution controls. For a fair price, that's my choice. Whatever... DCX, are you listening? We want a powertrain option! Get on it. ![]() |
