A new 2002 Special Edition model of the Jeep® brand's award-winning Grand Cherokee debuts today at the New York International Auto Show. Available for a limited time only, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition will be available
in dealerships in late April. "We are pleased to announce yet another new Grand Cherokee model in answer to customer preferences-- the new Grand Cherokee Special Edition," said Tom Marinelli, Vice President, Chrysler/Jeep Global Brand Center. "The Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition combines a monochromatic appearance with customer preferred equipment at a very attractive price." Starting at just $28,535 including destination, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition is offered in both two- and four-wheel drive with either the 4.0-liter PowerTech(TM) I-6 or available 4.7-liter PowerTech V-8. Four-wheel drive models will start at $30,950 including destination. Positioned between Laredo and Limited models, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition offers all of the Laredo package content, plus an available 4.7-liter V-8 PowerTech(TM) engine, body color front and rear fascias and cladding, 10-disc
CD changer, fog lamps and Special Edition badging. Four-wheel drive versions will feature the Quadra-Trac II® on-demand transfer case, sending torque from the rear to the front wheels when the need is detected - automatically. The Grand Cherokee Special Edition will be available in all 10 Grand Cherokee exterior colors.

However, it must be simil;ar to th Nissan XTerra, with onlt the necessary features; i.e. no 10-Disc Changer, no leather available, etc. It would fulfill the empty promises of other special GC's such as the 1998 5.9 Limited, 1994-5 Orvis Edition, and others...

Sure, you can do that with a wrangler (I used to do it with mine), but you have to take the carpet out first. Comparing a jeep to a poser HONDA??? concept for urban wannabees? You have got to be kidding me! And before you think I'm a "country club" Grand owner, I get mine very muddy EVERY WEEK, and it has a lot of "custom pinstriping" from the brush lined trails we have here in South Jersey. I happen to like a vehicle that is not only great off-road, but is a VERY comfortable daily driver. There is nothing wrong with comfort. By the way, if you want a hose out interior, do what I did. The first Jeep accesory I bought for the WJ was a set of plastic floor and cargo area liners form Cabelas. For about $150 you can get hard plastic floor and cargo liners that cover ALL carpeted areas in the passenger compartment and cargo area.
