DaimlerChrysler recently released a press releases about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

DaimlerChrysler recently released their product summaries for the 2004 Jeep lineup - here's the Grand Cherokee info:

  • The 2004 Jeep® Grand Cherokee’s fresh look starts with a new front fascia, new grille and new fog lamp appearance for all models, which debuted at the beginning of 2003.
  • For 2004, Jeep Grand Cherokee gives customers even more options than before by expanding to five models: Laredo, the new Special and Freedom Editions, Limited and Overland.
  • The new Special Edition model has the monochromatic exterior design cues of the Limited model. Four-wheel drive Special Edition models also include fog lamps, Quadra Trac II® transfer case, AM/FM/Cassette/10-disc CD with Infinity® speakers and a Special Edition badge.
  • New for 2004, Grand Cherokee is offered with a new factory-installed Navigation Radio for the first time.
  • This new system combines a 4.9-inch full-color display, AM/FM Stereo, CD Player and navigation system that uses DVD technology all in one unit.
  • The 4.7-liter PowerTech™ V-8 High Output engine is rated at 265 horsepower (198 kW) at 5100 rpm, and 330 lb.-ft. (448 N•m) of torque at 3600 rpm. The High Output 4.7-liter engine is standard on the Overland model and available on the Limited.
  • The 4.7-liter PowerTech V-8 and the High Output 4.7-liter engines are mated to the 5-45RFE five-speed automatic transmission, which provides a second overdrive gear for increased highway fuel efficiency and quieter engine operation at highway speeds.
  • The powerful 4.7-liter PowerTech V-8 engine produces 235 horsepower (175 kW) at 4800 rpm and 295 lb.-ft.  (400 N•m) of torque at 3200 rpm. The standard 4.7-liter engine is available on Laredo and Limited models, while the 4.0-liter PowerTech I-6 engine is standard. The 4.0-liter I-6 is rated at 195 horsepower (145 kW) at 4600 rpm and 230 lb.-ft. (312 N•m) of torque at 3000 rpm.
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee models are available in both two- and four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive Laredo models feature the Select-Trac® full-time transfer case with low range.
  • Available for 2004 on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is the Quadra Trac I transfer case, which is a derivative of the award-winning Quadra-Trac II transfer case. The Quadra-Trac I single-speed transfer case offers simplicity and convenience for those customers who do not tow heavy loads. There is no need to shift levers; Quadra Trac I will respond automatically when there is a loss of traction.
  • The Quadra-Trac II on-dem and transfer case with low range is standard on the Special Edition and Limited models and optional on Laredo. The Quadra-Drive system, which combines the Quadra-Trac II transfer case with Vari-Lok® axles, is able to send nearly 100 percent of the developed engine torque to just one wheel for outstanding capability both on- and off-road. Quadra-Drive® is optional on Limited and standard on Overland.
  • The Quadra-Trac II transfer case incorporates a progressive, speed-sensing torque transfer coupling. Vari-Lok axles use a progressive, hydro-mechanical speed-sensing torque transfer coupling in both front and rear differentials. Combine them both for an unbeatable Quadra-Drive system.
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee is manufactured at DaimlerChrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.

We'll post the info for the Liberty and Wrangler in the next couple days.

When will the Jeep produce a more powerfull engine like the Japanesse ?? the standard 4.7Lt V8 engine in my grand Cherokee, has only 235 HP, while such engine in any Japanesse car will have at least 300 HP, and much better milleage.
perhaps, Jeep should use the more powerfull and more efficient engine found in mercedes. Like The range Rover is currently using BMW engine, which is much more powerfull and more efficient than the previous range rover engine.
What is the use of an engine which claim to last forever, but run badly forever too???
