Chrysler Corporation will officially begin construction of its new 1.1-million square-foot manufacturing facility in the City of Toledo at a ground breaking ceremony July 22. The new $1.2 billion plant, located adjacent to Chrysler's current manufacturing facilities on Stickney Avenue on Toledo's north side, will produce Jeep sport-utility vehicles for sale worldwide for the 2001 model year. The ceremony will include representatives from the United Auto Workers and Chrysler Corporation, the State of Ohio and the City of Toledo. The new plant is expected to manufacture the redesigned 2001 Jeep Cherokee.
