WranglerEarthRoamer Announces XV-JP: Wrangler Expedition Vehicle (UPDATED)
Posted by mike on 2007/3/27 20:50:19 (2709) reads

Earlier today, EarthRoamer.com LLC announced the "XV-JP" - an expedition vehicle based on the 2007 Wrangler:

EarthRoamer is proud to announce the EarthRoamer XV-JP! Built on the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited platform, the new EarthRoamer XV-JP combines Jeep's legendary off road capability with innovative EarthRoamer design to create a vehicle with unprecedented capability.

Other than the photo, there's not a whole lot of information to go on just yet - no pricing has been announced. We'll post all the details as we get them.

UPDATE: Check out the comments for lots more details about the vehicle.

UPDATE 2: From Matt at EarthRoamer, "I will have a prototype at Jeep week in Moab next week, so anybody who wants to see it up close should look me up in the DaimlerChrysler display area."

I think if you look back at the various vehicles EarthRoamer has built you would find that all they build is 2 passenger RV's for Whay Off-highway expeditions. What they are built for, they do well.
If you have more than 2 people in your party, just buy more EarthRoamers.
Comparing these to a regular RV is like complaining about space in a fighter jet compared to an airliner. It's just not the same.

It's interesting, and I would like to see the interior layout, but really if there is only room for 2 why not just take a 2 dr JK and a tent. Because really the only thing I see is a tent that sits on top of your roof. Might as well just strap a hammock to your roll bar and a tree.

I think it's a cool concept, but with more than just 2 people, it destroys the concept of the new 4 door JK.

Just my $0.02.

I think you missed the point entirely.

Right. The point seems to be to wrangle up to $100,000 away from people that don't realize they can get the same functionality for less than $40,000 by buying a standard-issue JKL Rubi and throwing on a bunch of accessories, like a water tank, solar shower, refrigerator, and a tent! Actually, my suggested rig would be more functional, since you would be able to pass under lower tree branches.

I didn't miss the point at all.

I think that my point might not have been clear enough. The JKL was designed to hold 4-5 people. By modding the JKL to this expedition vehicle, it only holds 2 people, completely eliminating the inherent value of the JKL.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great mod with all the amenities of a miniRV.

I bet these guys would have liked one

While I've never wheeled in BC, I know by me there would be some real concerns about clearance from the trees.

Is it just me or does it look more like this is built off a Gladiator with a specialty camper shell? I'm sure it would be easier to build or produce after market kits like this if they'd just make the Gladiator

This ... uh ... ooh! ... wow.

I'm all for this if it's user convertible and if they don't go overboard with the luxury items.

Otherwise, I'll stick with an expedition trailer.

I wonder if they'll consider offering this as an empty commercial shell ... ?

You could say that I'm shell-shocked (nyuck, nyuck)... This thing looks fantastic!
