We ran across a couple of Compass tidbits over the past day or two...
A week or so ago, DaimlerChrysler had a event in Portland, OR for the press to come and check out the new Jeep Compass. The reporters were all able to drive the Compass on-road, off-road, and on the beach - one of the reporters managed to rip the bumper off his Compass in a "big ocean wave". Check out the full photo in flickr.
Here's a photo from the same event showing a Compass next to a Patriot.
Finally, SmartBrief.com has a cute little story about how the nine-speaker Boston Acoustics sound system can also be used via Bluetooth as your mobile phone's receiver.

![]() I look at the picture of the Compass and the Patriot side by side and my first thought is, "man, the Patriot doesn't look much more capable than the Compass, but Patriot's styling is so much better". And then I got to thinking, why didn't they just make a 2-door and 4-door Patriot, or a Patriot LWB and call a Patriot SWB the Compass. I like my Liberty but even I don't like the styling of the Compass as much as I like the Patriot. I guess DCX has there reasons for making 2 cars on the same platform look so different, but that's not what I would have done.
