MotorTrend is reporting that Chrysler is looking to fast-track the Fiat 500 into Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep showrooms as early as 2010.
Hot on the heels of the Chrysler-Fiat alliance announcement comes word that Chrysler is considering a crash program to fast track the Fiat 500 for sale in the U.S. If Chrysler gives the project the green light, it would be here in "well under 18 months," a source says. Set aside Fiat Group's clinic to determine whether it should bring in the 500 or the Alfa Romeo MiTo, the plan is to get the 500 into Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealers as soon as possible as a traffic-builder.
Seems like it would be an odd thing to see a tiny Italian car in the middle of a Jeep dealership...

![]() How is this going to help bring jobs back to the US? They are just adding another import to the already flooded market. Why doesn't Chrysler actually try to build a quality small car?

![]() Fiat also owns a controlling interest in IVECO, a major truck and diesel engine manufacturer. The 4x4 Massif competes with the Land Rover Defend and is available with a number of beds including pickup. On the other end is the Fiat Panda 4x4, a mini SUV with 11 in of ground clearance and turbo diesel yielding about 40MPG. There is substance that could revitalize the Jeep brand.

![]() Seems like a quick fix for only having a Caliber as a small car/hatchback in the lineup. And since there will be an allure for a different brand in the US, keeping the Fiat name similar to the Mini might do wonders for sales based on "being unique and different" like the aforementioned Mini used to pretty good success.
If they had a similar size sedan model perhaps bringing that over too would help, since they have no true sedan smaller than the Avenger/Sebring. |

![]() When they say 'Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep' showrooms, I believe they're referring to their new tri-branded dealerships. They're really pushing that concept in the states, no?
