The full-cell powered Jeep is making a surpise appearance.
Want to check out the Jeep Commander Concept vechicle? Live near Dayton, Ohio? Answer "yes" to both questions and you're in luck! It seems that the Commander will be on display at the 2004 Dayton Auto Show. Here's what the Dayton Daily News has to say about it:
Organizers of the 2004 Dayton Auto Show got a surprise Tuesday night when a Jeep Commander concept vehicle showed up on the doorstep of the Dayton Convention Center.
They weren't expecting the Commander - an imposing fullsize sport utility vehicle powered by an environmentally friendly fuel cell — but gladly rolled it onto a perch in the main hall.
"Things always change right up to the last minute," said Chip Hart, president of Cincinnati-based Hart Productions Inc., which puts on the Dayton show. "Vehicles get rerouted to different shows, and you're not sure what you're going to get. This time, we lucked out."
For the record, DaimlerChrysler AG's Jeep division has no plans to produce the Commander. But visitors to the auto show, which started last night and runs through Sunday, will have plenty of production and near-production vehicles to peruse.
