That is a shame about camp jeep. My wife and I went last year and we had a blast. I hope they are able to work something out, no matter where they have to do it.

Camp Jeep times were as I said above. I registed at 1:10 p.m.est. and I was in the high #300's. Some other friends registered at 3:00 and they were at #587. They said that things weren't completely on line yet but will be appearing on the web site this week. They have the wrong phone # first listed. It is for the Jeep Provisions or Jeep Gear. Make sure you call the Camp Jeep # at 1-877-444-5337. If the registration form comes up on your screen you can do it on line, but it's better to talk to someone to ask specific questions. It sounds like it's set up is the same as Charlottesville but on a smaller scale. They are definately limiting registration because it got out of hand last year, so register soon! You can find some of the hotels by going to the Poconos Jeep Jamboree web site. They are using the same trails for Camp Jeep at Big Boulder Mt. So you will be close. Camp Jeep is at Jack Frost Mt.

I have been driving Jeeps for 25 years starting with a CJ and now hooked on Laredos..."Selec Trac"......which Chrysler has decided to discontinue. BIG MISTAKE. Out of 6 Laredo drivers at my company who trade for a new Laredo every 3 years.....only 1 is returning to Jeep.(Because of the discontinuation of selec trac. The ugly body changes don't help either.) High % loss I'd say. Having the ability to drive in the summer in 2W and have multi 4WD options with selec trac was a great thing.They cut it to quad trac "only" on the 2005 Laredo, quite a change, and not a good one. It's saying Jeep drivers are stupid and shouldn't have to make a decision. I predict sales will fall. Being in New England...we're into the 4th month of 2005 and I've seen only 1 new Laredo or Limited. Wow.....
They should at least give the option of Selec Trac to the buyer I think. I'm due to trade for a new one 2006....if they don't bring back select trac.....I'm going to GM. (Maybe Hummer will come up with a smaller model by then.)
I don't think it's just Camp Jeep they are having problems with...I think they have multi problems. I'd love to have support on getting Jeep to reinstate Selec tracas an option on the Laredo.

I tried signing up for camp jeep 2005, but the website gave me absolutely NO information about the event this year. It wanted me to sign up for trails, but had no description of the trail nor did it have a map. The only thing I found was a place to put in my credit card number!!! I bought a jeep rubicon last year and would like to try it out at camp jeep, but if I'm having this much trouble getting info about it, who's to say the whole damn weekend won't be a nightmare.

Register at 1-877-444-5337. Registration started today. They are having trouble getting the web site info up. It's From 9-6 Fri, and Sat and 10- 2 on Sunday. Sign up for the trails they are going Fast!

Jack Frost Mt. Ski Area has condos for rent. If you have several people coming , you can get a good deal and be right smack in the middle of Camp Jeep. They have kitchens etc. for your needs.Or if you just need a motel, The Ramada on rte 940,Best Western on rte 115 ,any of them are right in the heart of Camp Jeep. A lot of motels near Wilkes Barre PA. Priced right ! Only 18miles from Jack Frost Mt. Easy ride! Good Luck!

the town of blakeslee is where jeep camp is going to be, my sister got an e-mailbecause she bought a new jeep, there is a comfort inn 7 miles away that seems to be a good deal.

I am also very disappointed that Camp Jeep was moved to August. School is in session and we cannot go. Last year was my first, it was great fun! VA was a great place. I had made reservations for a place to stay...even the folks in VA thought it was coming back! I think going to different places is OK, just move it back to July or even June.

Anyone have more specific site info? I'd like to scout out hotels and the surrounding area.

Have been to Camp Jeep in 01, 03, & 04...live in Florida...this is always our FAMILY VACATION every year...But...too far away 996 miles vs 620 and its AFTER SCHOOL STARTS :( so my 12 year old can not go??? Bad decision Jeep, makes my whole family sad :(

Incorrect about Camp Jeep - it is being held in the Poconos in Virginia.

I am looking forward to Camp Jeep 2005. I think a change of venue would be fun - I'm in Maryland, so there isn't that much difference in distance.

I am intrigued by the slogan, "back to basics and every bit as muddy."

The one thing that would be a big help is actual location information on the website instead of the the vague info usually posted. People can find accomodations just fine if they know specifically where they are going.

The Camp Jeep is being held at the Jack Frost Ski Mt. It's on route 940. Just a few miles off Interstate rte 80. Good hotels in the area. Plenty of hotels in the Wilkes-Barre area . near rte 115. Only 18miles from Jack Frost area. Great trout streams in the area. Leheigh river. Bass fishing on Brady's Lake. Public area, only 4miles away! Beautiful area in the woods yet close enough to good highways to get there!
Only 19 miles from minor league baseball. The Red Barons, Phillies AAA team. Tickets always avail!. Great family ballpark. Lot's of things to do. In the woods or in the towns!

NO CAMP JEEP! Oh this would be bad as my family were leaning towards attending this year if held in VA again. I guess it does not matter if it were in the Poconos to far for me but i'll bet its beautiful.....

Poconos, VA. hey thats a new one and a new mountain range to boot....I guess with the major population centers on each coast CJ is being kept in those areas and be damned bout the rest in the middle. Suck it up and drive DUDE yea drive your jeep for days and days to get to camp jeep its worth the trip.....as for me im staying home its just too for in my redone Willys....dang to bad....so as jeep usually puts it in the same spot 2 years in a row except when it was in MO. in 2002 i guess PA is it for 05-06 maybe 07 will be better located for me......have fun all....

That's dissapointing... Last year was the first Camp Jeep Ive gone to, I was really looking forward to going again this year, as well as being able to see all the new concepts like the Hurricane and the Gladiator...

A tip! If you're booking a room in the Wilkes-Barre area ask for the Corp. rate. It'll save ya some $$$.

We signed up for camp jeep...can't wait. We are going to be staying in Wilkes-Barre/Hilton Garden Inn-$100.00 a night.... because lodging is so expensive closer to the event at Jack Frost Resort. We take the gkids and a pool is a must! You are right about signing up for events. When I questioned the operator about signing up now they said that you sign up AT Camp Jeep. That is going to be a mess..I do not want to drive 8 hours then wait in a line for an event...NO!! We did that last year and waited in the heat in long lines for the tubing and other events because there was a problem with signing up on line. This is not our first campjeep. I'm hoping that the organization is good this year. And yes I agree with the other person that said this is late in the year. Who was in charge of that???? Certainly not people with kids. This is very family oriented..that's why we take the gkids. Just my two cents!

There are no mountains called the Poconos in VA. The web site is correct. Camp Jeep will be held in PA (not VA).

Jeeper - what's your source? The DCX site says, "Camp Jeep 2005, an owner-only event, is scheduled for the weekend of August 12, 2005 in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania."

I too like the idea of CJ being moved around but since 2003 its getting further east and north from us in central or southern usa....

It seems that this rumor is wrong all the around, I would say the article is a reliable source.

Well, according to an article in the Toledo Blade, there are plans to make a 2006 Wrangler, but I’m not as optimistic that in only 3 days they will be ready to switch over to the New Wrangler line. Take a look at:

The article is based on info from Union officials, not DCX, so take it with a grain of salt. I would not be surprised the 2006 model run is short. Some current employees will be transferred to the other suppliers/builders, and I’m sure they will need to work out details on production now that DCX is not in complete control.

The article also mentions the 2 and 4 door versions of the Wrangler, and states the Dodge Nitro will begin production in August 2006.

I’m glad there will be a Camp Jeep as they are a great family experience for anyone that has never been there. I’ve never been to the Poconos, but I do like the idea of moving Camp Jeep around.

Will the 2006 Wrangler still have the classic Inline 6 or will they try to switch over to the V-6 from the Liberty? The In-line 6 is now exclusive to the Wrangler, so can they afford to keep building this engine? I’m guessing the 2006 will virtually be the same as the 2005 as the classic TJ Wrangler is at end of life.

DCX skipping 2006 Wrangler production is not too suprising. The 1996 model year was also skipped when the TJ arrived. I doubt very much that they will be able to gear up production on the new model with the facility upgrades in Toledo.

I guess this just shows how rumors can get carried away...

Jeep has now posted that Camp Jeep WILL BE HELD on August 12 - 14th in the Pocono Mountains.

What the......is going on here. Camp Jeep may be cancelled? Has DCX lost their minds? I was not going but have been before in 2002 and it was a great time, activities, concerts, etc. If the poconos are not available move it, their has to be someone willing to host the event.

Ok someone needs to get canned for this mistake. DCX has had plenty of time to line up a place for camp jeep and if site no. 1 is not working out go to site 2 etc. The group in charge of this project for DCX should be fired this is a huge event for jeepers and those thinking of buying a jeep. We'll see if they still announce Camp Jeep but its getting later in the year. The later in the year the less people attend imo as many will have made plans and reservations to alternate destinations. DCX may have shot itself in the foot this year.......

It makes sense now as i was beginning to wonder what was happening with camp jeep. It will be ashamed if they cannot have it this year as its a very fun and family oriented activity....Oh well just puttin my money towards a jeep jamboree which is much different but still lots of fun......
