Looking forward to next year's all-new Wrangler? Like boxy Jeeps? Then you're in luck.

AutoNews.com is running a quick article about the design differences between more "rounded" Jeeps (Liberty, Grand Cherokee) versus "boxy" Jeeps (Wrangler, Commander) with regards to their target market.

It's a fairly interesting article and gives some clues that the next generation Wrangler will keep its flat panels and sharp angles. Here's a snippet:

The redesigned Jeep Wrangler debuting next year will retain an important styling characteristic: boxiness.

The reason? In Jeep's view, that design element is needed to retain Wrangler's primary buyers - men. It also will help differentiate the four-door Liberty from a similar-sized addition to the Wrangler line expected next year, a four-door model. All Wranglers now have two doors.

While not confirming the timing for the redesigned Wrangler or the four-door model, Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler group executive vice president of global sales and marketing, said the Liberty and Wrangler will continue to be styled and engineered for two different groups.

Camp Jeep at the New York Auto Show

Autoblog.com scored some nice photos of the Camp Jeep layout at the New York Auto Show. It looks like a pretty solid driving course, with the usual features. It looks like there will be lots of eye candy to check out as well - everything from classic Jeeps to the Galdiator concept. Check it out

I have a wrangler. The liberty is a great road car. It's also a 4x4 for when you want to get off into the forest service type roads. I will never be a rock crawer but it's good to get the groceries. I would love to have a 4 door wrangler. That would be cool. I would much rather get have a Gladaitor if they build it, If they make a Gladaitor it will be my next jeep. Otherwise I will buy a ford f150. It's time to s**t or get off the pot jeep.

I was about to wait on line for the 60 + minute wait on the indoor track though before I realized I wouldn't be doing the actual driving (Jeep reps were). But the Gladiator was very impressive, as was the Commander (a lot nicer seeing it in person). Also on display was the Grand Cherokee SRT. All in all, worth checking out if you're in the area.

Anyone have a link to that video from Camp Jeep last year of the guy who got his H2 stuck on a measly little stump trying to show off in front of the Jeeps and had to have a Jeep pull it off? You realize how pathetic it really is when you see the pictures...

I do admit though; there ARE some pretty females out there who own 'em...

I mean, women tell me that Wrangler guys are hot...and I've met/dated alot of women 'cus of my 'ol YJ...

It makes sense to me the demographic difference in the Wrangler and Liberty..I can vouch for it....
