There's a lot of reviewing going on - and it's all about the Jeep Wrangler. Thanks to everyone who sent us in a link - here's what we've got so far...
Rockcrawler.com: "Only now, it's more up-to-date looking, drives like it was built during the 21st century and comes in two sizes. The Wrangler still rocks."
JP Magazine: "We have to admit to not being fans of the flenders at first, but then we realized just how much damage and abuse they could take without transferring it to the sheetmetal. The breakaway clips work great, and a brief introduction with a plumber’s torch at the end of the day returned them to their original shape, or close to it."
Edmunds.com: "For one, the engine is gutless. It revved smoothly up the first highway grade, but when a 3-year-old toasted his sippy cup to us as his mom blew by in her minivan we knew there was a problem. Subsequent track tests confirmed the Wrangler's laziness as our six-speed tester posted a 0-to-60 time of 9.7 seconds. The Nissan Xterra completes the same sprint a full 2 seconds faster and it's 134 pounds heavier." (article also includes 3 minute video)

He tugged on his cap, screwed up his face, and said the words Jeep fans loathe, "It looks like a Hummer wannabe. Is that really the new Wrangler?"

 Wrangler minivan engineSo, they added ~300# and changed to a minivan engine with approx the same HP/ft-lbs instead of bumping to a ballzy NEW powerplant with 250+HP & 275+ ft-lbs, and the reviews are starting to come in saying the "ooomph" is marginal... Hmmmm...
Don't make me say it, don't make me say it, DCX!  I can't hold back; it hurts...  I T-T-TOLD YA SO!  There, that felt better...  202HP is so UNinspriring!  So, DCX, what's the next option?  |

Re: Wrangler Reviews Okay, to my understanding, the 3.8L is a Cast Iron Block. The 4.0L V-6 is an aluminum block. Don't Jeep people want durable strong engines in their cars? Maybe this is why DCX went with the 3.8L.

Re: Wrangler Reviews I've been reading all of the reviews regarding the JK. To me it looks like the electronic sway bar disconnect is standard on the Rubi. Is this right, or is it an option?

It makes us laugh just writing the words. They also mentioned about the relative lack of "punch" of the engine. They need to put the Nitro R/T engine in this thing standard for '08 at the latest. |

Re: Wrangler Reviews Well Edmunds is downgrading the JK because it can't go fast? Umm... this isn't a sports car. It needs to crawl rocks which from the rockcrawler.com and JP articles it appears to do just FINE!
And I though the Nitro engine wasn't used because of where the torque kicked in. |

Re: Wrangler Reviews The comments about the "gutless engine" and being blown off by a mini-van should alert the Jeep Program Management folks to the fact that people will expect more from the new Wrangler than the 3.8L can deliver. What about the the 4.7 V8 with the ethanol flexibility?? At least in the upscale Sahara and Rubicon models. The problem with the 3.8 is the anemic torque curve. The new Wrangler has almost "all the right Stuff".
