Chrysler's Mopar division debuted a Jeep Patriot Back Country Concept late last month in Paris.

The concept takes a stock Patriot and adds a bunch of Mopar Accessories and other custom additions to give it a more "rugged" look.

Back Country’s exterior boasts a unique Optic Green color along with a variety of MOPAR accessories including a roof top cargo basket adorned with off-road lights, splash guards, 18-inch alloys and special insignias. The blackened B-pillars, body-color door handles and the platinum chrome light bar at the rear complete the crossover’s exterior looks.

The interior was upgraded as well with new materials and colors.

I saw the Compass BC concept, too, but it was worthless. If it was a Rallye Concept with the SRT4 280HP engine and a half-dozen driving lights, with a roll cage, I'd be all over it. But it just remains an embarrassment to the brand.

You're dead nutz right on the tires! How about some LT245-75/16 Goodyear MT/Rs or some 29 X 10.5-15LT Interco Thornbirds?
Hell, MOPAR, it's a concept; live a little!

LT245/75/16? Man, those won't even fit on a KJ or KK, and those are supposed to be real, rugged SUVs. My KJ came with 225/75/16 and I can't go much bigger without lifting it. On the other hand, my Tacoma (which weights 500lbs less than my KJ) came with 245/75/16 and you can fit 265/75/16 at stock height with only very minimal rubbing. 1/2" of lift and you'll have no rubbing. The point of this ramble.... Chrysler: Make the freakin' wheel wells bigger! I'm not asking to be able to fit 265/75/16 at stock height like an H3, but would 245/75/16 be too much to ask for on a KK or Patriot?

I want to say that the SEMA concept had a small lift on it to fit the 245/75/16 tires on that unit. I have talked to my wife and if they came out with that exact model, we'd have the first order in for that jeep. What surprises me is that I don't understand why Jeep doesn't take some of the ideas an American Expedition Vehicle style company and put them into the Commander and Cherokee. Could you imagine a ruggedized Commander/Cherokee with some of the Liberty Renegade/Wrangler Rubicon features? Land Rover had their Discovery extreme builds, jeep should nail that down.

If you look at the high fender flares, low profile hoods that AEV had on their TJs, it was replicated on the Gladiator which lead to the basic design of the Jeep Rescue and ultimately the JK. Specifically, the Gladiator was the JK two years in advance before we even had an idea of what the JK was to be.

Re: Jeep Patriot Back Country Concept
Call me crazy, but 18" VW-style wheels mated with low profile, smooth tread tires don't exactly say "back country."

I like how this post doesn't mention the Compass Overland concept. That's not sarcasm, I really like ignoring the compass in hopes that it will go away. Crap, I just mentioned it, didn't I?
