LibertyToledo Jeep(and Dodge?) Assembly

Starting next fall, the Toledo Jeep Assembly plant in Toledo, Ohio will no longer be a Jeep-only facility. DaimlerChrysler announced yesterday that the all-new 2007 Dodge Nitro will roll off the same line as the Jeep Liberty.

This is not surprising news seeing how they are sister cars, but rather just a confirmation of something we've assumed for quite some time.

Here's a snippet from the official DaimlerChrysler press release:

At the California International Auto Show today, the Chrysler Group confirmed production of the Dodge Nitro mid-size SUV for the 2007 model year. Nitro will be the first mid-size SUV for Dodge, completing the brand’s current lineup of cars, minivans, trucks, commercial vehicles and a full-size SUV.

RUBICON you might be right but DC might want to put out the new liberty sooner so that the sales do not drop

I am guessing that the Nitro would be based off the next generation Liberty, not the current KJ. The next generation Liberty is due in the next two years so I doubt DCX would introduce a vehicle on an architecture that has a year of life left in it.

Got a link to the press release?

Anyone know if this is simply baised on the KJ platform? I know the concept was, but I've heard rumors that the Nitro will be on a newer platform that the redesined 2008/2009 KJ would be built on the newer Nitro platform.

Rumor also has it that TK will have IFS!

By the way, I completely made up one of these rumors. Bet I've scared/upset a few of you

I heard this rumor today. Jeep is gonna have an additional model for 2007 besides Patriot and Compass/Rallye.
Its' code-name is YJ-C.
I saw a spy shot of its' front end. Looks like Square Headlamps and exposed Tow Hooks.
The interior was shown without the optional Airbag System.
Saw only a part of an emblem. It read:

****gler Classic. ( * denotes missing letters)

I think I'm gonna buy one of them.

Bling,Bling.

LOL!!! You haven't gone Urbanstyle have you OOJ?

I'd actually like to see a TK-C ... a stripped down no frills tribute to the classic ruggedness of CJ's-TJ's-Wranglers of old.
