That is the greatest. The Hummer has always been an embarrassment to the American tax payer from the beginning. Now it can be an embarrassment to that owner. Take it to the mall but not off roading.
It is only fitting that a Jeep would come to the rescue. The Hummer and all it's clones will never have the dedication, heritage, versatility, or legacy of the Jeep.

I've seen a lot of remarks indicating greatness of military hummers and have to disagree. I've been in the army for 13 years. It wasn't too long ago that taking a hummer out for "driver training" in the remotest northern parts of south korea was fairly common. I still missed my bronco. The hummer's long wheelbase would high center frequently and the suspension was too stiff for even medium articulation and would quickly loose traction when the going got just a little rough. Granted you could slide sideways down near cliff-like hills and stay on the wheels (and we did much to the displeasure of my ncoic) but you really had to pick your line to get back out. I was back from overseas six months and had two blown diffs, 1 twisted off input shaft, 1 snapped driveshaft and finally a blown bronco motor to costly to repair. Years gone by, I lived and learned and now own a Rubicon...(Moral?..)
back to the point, I still haven't matured enough that i wouldn't have followed up that vid with a jeep driving all over that stump...

here is my comment:about 8 years ago while living in georgia.a couple of us were playing on a hill and a guy comes up with a hummer( they were new then and this guy thought he was the man ) and tries to get himself up the hill and failed and slid back into a tree and was all done...we winched him up and sent him on his way...they are for looks only unless its military..

Now don't forget Jeepers...The "Hummer" Brand is actually produced by the same autoworkers who produced H1 and their ancestors...(AM General)..which was once part of the Jeep Empire. GM only bought the rights to "market" and "sell" the Hummer Brand...still part of the Jeep bloodline...though now quite Bastardized...

Why would someone who just spent 60K on a Hummer stage being stuck in a parking lot? Just makes the owner look like an a$$! Looks to me like it got high centered on the frame and/or running board and without traction devices aka: locker or LSD. he could not get off it. Could have been a driver that did not know what to do either.

There is nothing to compare the H1 to, it is a tank with tires, come to think of it you could compare it to a tank i guess. :) But certainly not a 20K TJ!!

here is my comment The Porta-Potty is a nice nuance in the photos. I feel for the guy in the H2, but not much. This would make a great ad, something like "H2, parking lot rated". And Bowser, I liked your double post - keep laughing!

This does make the H2 owner look unfortunate! Seems to me that it got high centered on the frame. The weight of the Vehicle was centered perfectly so little weight was on the back wheels and none on the front. The vehicle also seemed balanced side to side what luck for the Jeep crowd. Seems to me that any vehicle, yes-even Jeep could have this happen.
Lets see the pictures of the H2 on the Camp Jeep- off road course (if there is one) getting stuck and being pulled out by a Jeep that lead the way. Now that would be something worth seeing.

AM General was originally a wholly owned subsidiary
of Jeep under AMC. They produced the familiar DJ-5
postal Jeeps and also the M-151 MUTT (which had a
non-Jeep grille). AM General was bought by a couple
different defense contractors and finally became a LLC
in 2002.

Legally, AM General has nothing to do with Jeep or DC
now. So when GM handles the marketing for the
Hummer brand (which includes product development),
they can't "borrow" Jeep trademarked material any
more than they can use Ford or Microsoft properties.

GM is acutely aware of the Jeep brand, and any
parallel marketing is calculated toward conquest sales,
not an amicable family relationship. When you don't
play nice, expect a little mudslinging (literally). Though,
to be fair, IIRC, e-lockers and low range are standard
on all H2s. Problems this ridiculous are more likely due
to operator error (inexperience) than product
engineering.

I was at Camp and The Jeep Mgmt was there and they even announced it to the crowd. Everyone cheered!

I was at that spot just eariler to Air up. Man I wish I had seen that!

WTJ, that is a Scrambler with a Wrangler(YJ) front end on it.

This is perfect! I guess it just shows ya that all the goofy widgets and bs that GM puts into that stupid thing, it still can't compete with the Jeep, old or new!

It just goes to show that there's nothing better than a Jeep.

I was at a Texas river in my '97 TJ once and pulled out a couple of huge, 4WD Chevy pickups that were stuck. This doesn't sound unrealistic to me.

I also drove an H2 for a couple of weeks once (so I could write a story about it). I was not impressed.

Some people just don't know better than to bring a knife to a gunfight.

You may as well say Jeep is better off-roader than Toyata Camry. Pick on someone your own size and compare Wrangler to the real Hummer, not some fake overpriced chevy truck .

jeep should definately play this up.. especially with the impending doom that is the H3...
also, with jeep planning to expand its lineup, a new "shadow slogan" (like the jeep grill now) could be a wrangler or scrambler pulling an H2 in the background of commercials. How great would that be!

I think one of the problems with the Hummer is the running boards that a majority of the H2's come with. I am guessing they result in a considerable loss of ground clearance.

That would be a good marketing SLAM, i can hear it now...

Hummer, the most capable off-road vehicle on the planet... being pulled off a stump in a parking lot by a 20 year old Jeep! That would be great!

Somebody should make sure that the marketing group for Jeep see's this.
Maybe it could be the basis for a Wrangler/Jeep advertising campaign!

That was a good laugh, how embarrasing for that H2 driver. Even a bone stock TJ would not get hung on that stump. Guess that will teach him to show up to CJ without a Jeep!
