One of our readers recently stumbled upon a cammoflauged 4-door Wrangler being tested in an high-altitude area of Colorado. He was able to take numerous photos of the vehicle, including some photos showing part of the interior (through the side windows), a possible seam in the roof (indicating a removable hard top), and even managed to speak to the engineers.

Here's the description of some of what you can see in the photos:

I got a bunch of shots of a 4-Door 2007 Wrangler. I have 2 shots where you can make out the dash (1 from driver side, 1 from passenger side). tweeters are built in, HUGE speedo, fancy CD player. Can kinda see under it in a few shots. Rain gutters above the 4 doors and possible proof of a PANELIZED roof.

These photos are much better than any other recent cammo'd photos - and the resolution is excellent. The only downside is that there is a $1 "donation" to view the high-resolution photos (the low-res photos are free). Check out the photos here.

If you do pay to see the high-res photos, you'll not only get access to the photos, but you'll also be able to read the photographer's comments to each photo, including some strange comments made by the Jeep engineers.

I have over 2500 reasonably high resolution photos hosted on Flickr for $25 a year. I'm sure there are other low-cost hosting alternatives for this relatively small collection of photos, regardless of bandwidth.

I don't blame you for wanting to make money off of them, but I'd sooner try to sell them to some publication for one lump sum. I don't think this nickel-and-dime fee is even scarcely worthwhile for you or potential viewers.

20074door don't worry about what the jerks are saying on here. If you haven't noticed all they do is complain, if you weren't charging a dollar to see your pictures we would just be reading a bunch of post about how the new Wrangler is just going to be a "soccer mom mobile" or about how much the 3.7 V-6 "sucks" or how they need to buy a 06 Wrangler before they stop making "real Jeeps"

 Complaints
I haven't seen this many complaints in quite some time. Complaining just happens to be one of the things I like about this site, and I haven't seen near enough complaints since the site moved.

Yeah, I know, I'm just trying to stir up trouble... but it's fun to debate or dissagree with someone, especially when it's a rumor that can't be proved one why or the other. By the way, I think the TK's top will be much like the current hard top other than the fact that it'll come apart in more than once piece (roof pannels and side and rear pannels?)

 Please Donate!
Instead of buying pictures from a greedy compu-geek on here; why not consider donating that $1 so a poor 'ol YJ Jeep owner can see his wish of owning a new Rubicon come true?!!:?

I will send you all lots o' pictures of the YJ being traded in towards that new RUBI !

I mean if you wanna support a shyster.....you all might as well send the dough this way....

Because as stated previously; I am the Original "OnlyOneJeep". 'cus I can and I care.

Please consider donating to those TRULY in need (Servicemen/Women, Katrina victims)...not some computer hack masquerading as a Jeep owner...................

Mike, why do you accept such gratuitious solicitations?

Not to shy to talk?... Now that's the biggest understatement of the century OOJ.

Somehow I find it hard to believe your letting go of your YJ.

 Re: New Wrangler Spy Shots
I thought your pictures were pretty good, they were worth a dollar. I think you are right about the top having a removable panel but I don't think the whole top will be panelized, I think it is just going to have a removable panel over the front seats, like the sunrider soft top on the Unlimited. I think the rest of the top will come off like the current Wrangler and there will be a soft top. I think this because...

1. Earlier this summer some people had posted info on some things they had seen at a Jeep consumer focus group survey they had attended, at this survey they got to see what the 07 wrangler would look like and fill out a survey telling what they thought of it. They also said that Jeep had a top with a removable panel over the front seats on display. here is a link http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172110&highlight=2007+wrangler+door

2. Here is a link to some 07 4 door spy photos on rockcrawler.com
http://www.rockcrawler.com/features/newsshorts/05august/jk_spyshots.asp
If you compare the tops of the two Jeeps the front Jeep looks like it has a soft top, notice how its top doesn't look as tight or squared off.

3. In 20074door's spy photos you can see a roll through the window of the Jeep. If the Jeep was going to have an integrated hard top with removable panels then why would they need to have a separate roll bar.

4. The seems in the camouflage covering the test vehicles are just were they would be if it had a traditional hard top with a removable panel over the drivers seat.

Well, that's just what I think. We will have to wait a few months to see if I am right.

Hey 20074door,

I hope I did not start something here, 'cause I was not trying to start a controversy over the buck per view you are seeking. However, I do suspect it would have raised some eyebrows even without my initial comment.

But I would like to state for the record that the intent of my comment was to indicate that the pictures are not significantly different from any we have already seen. Regarding the fixed/removable panel roof... the info. already out on the net about it does indicate that it will likely be the way this rig is built! Yahooooo! Oh, and yes there have been pics available that showed part of the dash maybe not the tweeter but I must state that as a true Jeep nut I don't really care about tweeters personally. Unless a trimed up stereo is standard that is an option that I would not consider ordering.

I'm thrilled for you that you got a chance to see the rig up close and talk to the DCX folks about it, I wish it were me!. However, I (and I suspect others) would still like to hear about what they told you, if they told you anything significant.

Now if you get a chance to get some really great unmasked images of this new rig and some realy high quality detailed shots of the interior, then hey I'll be the first in line to give up a $1 (probably more) to see it.

I do applaud your audacity (should I say cohones) in going after the shots I hear that some of the staff surrounding these test rigs can become beligerant and down right stupid in their actions. I've heard of people in cars being run off the road as they shot pics.....talk about a law suit waiting to happen!!!

 Re: New Wrangler Spy Shots
I appreciate the comments.

I don't like charging you guys either, but 8MB photos need bandwidth paid for. I really would like to find an advertiser for them and make them free for all. Honestly. I have seen every spy shot on this vehicle I can find, and I would have paid a buck to see these new things (zoomed in) and been happy with spending $1.

I sent them over to Brenda Priddy & Company to see what they think. We will see.

I appreciate your feedback on them not being significantly different. I agree they are not when you don't zoom in. But I have not seen the dash with tweeters, CD player, instrument cluster, up close (zoomed in) anywhere else (A side shot kinda through the window far off, yes. But not up close like on these photos). I have not seen the rear flare and rear bumper melded together anywhere else. Nor have I seen proof positive of a panelized hard top. (rumors, speculation, hearsay, educated guesses are great; but I was thrilled to SEE it on both sides up close)

If these photos don't sell to anyone, and I don't get an advertiser, I will have Mike post the engineers comments here. I want to share my excitement with everyone.

ANYONE WANT TO SLAP AN AD ON THE PHOTO PAGE SO THEY ARE FREE FOR EVERYONE?

The pictures are good, but nothing is shown that you can't find anywhere else for free. Not worth $ to look at for sure... I was expecting more. Besides the point, as an avid Jeep fanatic, I wouldn't charge all of my peers to look at what I found!

 Re: New Wrangler Spy Shots
You zoomed in on the dash, rear flare/bumper, seam in the roof? tweeters? etc? You have seen that elsewhere? where? I have not. Post the links for everyone please. I bet there is advertising all around any spy shots you do find that do not even show those features.

I wish I could allow them to be free. But 8MB high res pics that can be zoomed in on need to be paid for somehow. Want to advertise? Everything is supported via advertising or payment for content. Take your pick.

I don't have a sponsor, yet. Anyone?

Enough on this subject.. The people who are complaining here basically want to see them, but are just too cheap for $1.

come on guys... why you gotta be A$$HOLES about it? if the guy wants to charge a buck to see something he owns then let him. I sunk way into my wallet and found a buck to look at his pics and they weren't earthshattering but they were the best pics i've seen.

also for the Die-hard jeepers out there who will never give up their current jeep i hope you all dont have TJs or YJs or cherokees because those arent true jeeps either... God forbid that someone might want some comfort in their daily driver... what about the dudes who have the crawler CJs on the weekend and want to drive the commander or new wrangler to work on the highway each day... why dont you guys go play in some mud and lighten up a bit...

to each his own...

I figure since people pay lots for looking at women undressed that Jeep diehards would also pay to look at a new Wrangler unmasked. At least $5 a peep.
Hey you guys, were only talking a dollar! It's not that big a deal. The cost of a soda.

Thanks. Most people on the internet have sunken into the mentality of "everything should be free". They don't realize that most spy photos have been paid for buy whoever is hosting them, or there are ads all around them. I have neither and have very high res large file sized photos.

It is only the diehards that will pay, and those are the ones that share my level of excitement about this vehicle. I personally can't wait for it to come out.

If someone cares to advertise, then I can afford to allow free access for all, but until then.

I'm not paying a dollar to see Wrangler Spy Shots, this is the internet, after all...If anything, this guy should be donating his money to Hurricane relief...

Anyway, I have liked what JEEP is giving us...seems like they are keeping tabs on this website to get our opinions (i.e. 5-panel roof, flat belly pans, 4 doors, possible Diesel engines and 6-speed transmissions)

At least they werent paying attention to OOJ!!!!

Let's see..Pay a $1 to see a "new" Jeep.
As if no one knows what a Jeep is....

I'd rather take my $ and donate to Jeep's Serviceman (Operation Gratitude) drive for our guys/girls fighting in Iraq.

THEY deserve it..not some nitwit with a digital cam.

Besides REAL Jeepers are keeping their present Jeeps 'til they die.

John Wayne wouldn't fall for this joke....

To paraphrase that character who runs "Soup International" on Seinfeld...."NO JEEP FOR YOU!"

 Re: New Wrangler Spy Shots
It was worth a $1 to see. There are some shots that show some views we haven't see before. Plus, if we make it worth someones time they may try extra hard to get some other spy photos, maybe even something without camo.
Now if he was charging $5.......??

The photos are not that great and don't really show anything that we have seen elsewhere.

I'd have been more interested in hearing about the engineers comments.

Do yourself a favor and save yourself the buck or two this guy seeks.

 Re: New Wrangler Spy Shots
If anyone cares to advertise on the page with the high res photos, I will drop the $1. They are really large photos.

I am sorry you did not see anything new. I saw a lot new that I have not seen elsewhere on any 2007 Wrangler photos, when I zoom in on these. Just like Mike said about the resolution being excellent and seeing things not seen elsewhere.

I think proof of a panelized hardtop is pretty exciting. And I thought the dash and tweeters were neat. And seeing how the rear bumper and rear flare meld... I have not seen that anywhere else.

You cannot see anything new in the small photos, that is for sure. And if you don't use the zoom tool on the big photos you don't see that much either, but zoom in and you see a whole lot of new stuff. I have had people email me back pleased with new stuff they saw when they zoomed in.

Thanks to all who have donated. Again, anyone care to put a small ad on it and make it free to all?

I agree with other comments here about making the photos publicly available. I mean, you obviously wouldn't have posted them to a server if you were worried about bandwidth.

Also, your code is a little more sophisticated than a typical person who's just quickly slapping pics up on their own site and looking for help with the costs after the fact.

Come on, no status bar message on-rollover and the links are javascripted document.next commands? You obviously have done this (or tried) before.

How much traffic do you really think your site will get from these pictures? Probably not enough to wreck whatever server hosting plan you have. Then again, posting high resolution pictures to the web is really just asking for a high hosting bill.

Save them as medium quality jpegs and remove the donation request. Then you'll see if your pics are worth the traffic.

I wanted to share them for everyone to see who wants to see them. And you admit high res pics can have a high hosting bill. Thus the donation. Unless you care to advertise.

And I am not interested in medium quality junk that you can't zoom in on like every other spy shot, but the full image that you can zoom in on quite a lot..

What are you doing snooping around the code? That is exactly why the code is the way it is. To prevent hacks from trying to steal it.

I will repeat what I have said. Someone advertise, and it will be free for all.
