Portions from a Chrysler, LLC press release
Jeep(R) sales were off 6% in January compared with 2007, with Compass, Commander, and even the Wrangler sales off 30%. The Wrangler drop-off is especially surprising considering its record sales over the past few months.
Based on strong consumer demand, sales of the redesigned Jeep(R) Liberty mid-size sport-utility vehicle increased 17 percent to 8,331 units in January 2008. Sales in January 2007 were 7,141 units.
Full sales figures after the jump.

![]() Ive gotta say the Liberty is a hot seller...i went to a dealer two weeks ago to test drive one and they had 7 on the lot....I took my wife back this past weekend to test drive one to maybe buy one for the family...and they were ALL gone...only the Commander and Wrangler a few patriots and one compass on the lot...and its a big dealer...said now people were ordering them...darn i missed out on a very nice white/tan interior/full slide back roof for $20K...

![]() Its understandable...Ive been pricing the Wrangler and Liberty for the wife. You can get a very nicely equipped Liberty for 19-20K of course not 4x4...and the equivalent wrangler is a little more...the new Liberty is very very nice...sold feel to it rides great, price is right..jeep got it right with this one...

![]() I'm curious to know how much JK owners are paying a month for the 4 door because I think that the word is getting out that the dealers have been gouging people for 4-500/mo. for a lease where I live on those things. I would assume that people are not interested in getting ripped. I'm sorry but 4-500 is crazy high for a low gas mileage vehicle like this. It should be around 350.

![]() The "OMG, gotta get that!!" response might be off...
...or people could be tired of waiting for the to hit the lots and are purchasing other vehicles. Now would be a great time to introduce a pickup version. Are you LISTENING, Chrysler?!?! |
