The future of Camp Jeep is in jeopardy...
Jeep’s Marketing department, which funds Camp Jeep, is considering pulling the plug on future Camp Jeep events.
If you haven't been to a Camp Jeep, hopefully you will still have a chance to do so in future years. Camp Jeep caters to anyone and everyone that loves to experience life behind the wheel of a Jeep. First and foremost, there are the trail rides. Other exciting activities include an engineering tent where you can ask Jeep engineers questions about your vehicle, round table discussions where you can voice your opinions about current and future Jeeps, tons of family-based activities (SRT-8 Driving Experience, Jeep 101 Off-Road Test Drives, rock climbing, mountain bike riding and pro MTB racing, skate boarding--hands on or watching Tony Hawk, etc...), air shows, live music with rockin’ concerts, a huge fireworks display, and so on.
Camp Jeep is a great time for one and all, and has been for twelve years. In fact, Camp Jeep was named the best customer owner appreciation event in the world in 2004. If attending Camp Jeep in 2007 and beyond is on your to-do list, it’s time to make your voice heard. Hearing directly from Jeep owners about the importance of Camp Jeep may be the only thing that saves it.
There are two ways to show your support for Camp Jeep. First, sign the online petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/CampJeep/petition.html today. In addition to signing the petition, please send an e-mail to http://www.jeep.com/. Choose "Contact Us" from the bottom of the page, and then choose "I Need Customer Assistance." Write a few words in support of Camp Jeep, and submit your e-mail. E-mails submitted on this web page will go directly to Jeep’s Marketing Department.
With your help and the help of Jeep owners everywhere, you can help tip the scales in favor of keeping Camp Jeep alive. If you or anyone you know supports Camp Jeep, please refer them to this story on JeepNewsNow and ask them to support the grassroots campaign to save Camp Jeep.
Respectfully submitted by Tom Lynch, owner of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport and a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in support of future Camp Jeep events.

![]() I too heard rumors of the possibility of dropping camp jeep, which was in part why I wrote a couple of articles regarding my experiecnes.
I finally got an e-mail reposnse from Jeep today regarding Camp Jeep. I don't think too many really read what is being sent in, but hopefully Jeep is getting the point as to not get rid of camp jeep... here is what I wrote: -------------------------------------- Brief Description: No more camp Jeeps? Comments: We have been hearing that Jeep is considering dropping Camp Jeep next year as well as all together. I hope this is not true as I have attended 3 Camp Jeeps over the years and have found hem to be one of the best family experiences I have ever had. Besides, this is one of the best tools you have to educate your best salespeople, which is the exisiting owners. I don't know how many times I have talked to other drivers about the fun and experinces we have had at Camp Jeep. This always turns into 'I did not know Jeeps could do that', and quite often we take my Jeep out for a demo. Seriously, please reconsider your decesion to drop Camp Jeep. ----------------------------------- now here is the response: Thank you for your email regarding the Camp Jeep Event. We appreciate the time and effort you took to communicate your opinion about the Camp Jeep Event. Constructive criticism of the kind offered in your note is always a welcomed and important way of getting feedback. Be assured that Camp Jeep Counselors are working vigorously on addressing all feedback and comments. We hope that your experience at this year's Camp Jeep event does not discourage you from attending future Camp Jeep events. Thank you for being a loyal Jeep enthusiast! -------------------------------------- I like that they mention 'future camp jeep events', but where did they get the impression I would be discouraged from attending future camp jeeps???? |

![]() Here was the reply I got back from DC.-
Dear Jon: Thanks for contacting Dr.Z. Your message has been forwarded to us for response. Camp Jeep has become a very popular standard around the Jeep market. With the current level of demand we will see the program around for quite some time. Thanks again for your "Z"mail. Sincerely, Rudy |

![]() Um, how did this person find out that the marketing group is considering killing this off? Was there a press release or is this an inside person?

![]() Lets all hope that Camp Jeep lives on. I've been to Camp Jeep 99, 00, 01, 02, and 05 and it's the best brand marketing any manufacturer could possibly do. Where else can you get 8-10k people together, feed them inside track information, and then have them spread a great brand image to their friends, family, and coworkers. It works a heck of a lot better than a silly MySpace page or Facebook site.
I think with the recent rash of decisions of the Compass, killing off the Gladiator, poor marketing, and, if it happens, the death of Camp Jeep, Jeep market share is going to go down real hard, real fast. It's getting harder and harder to market a Jeep to even my wife when the response to a "tough" Hummer image is an image of whacked out bobbleheads driving to insensable "music". |

![]() I think I need to take a job at DCX to point their marketing folks in the right direction. They obviously don't understand brand identity.
They are worried more about expanding the brand with a poorly executed vehicle like the Compass but then consider dropping Camp Jeep and kill the idea of producing the Gladiator. |

![]() I have worried about this every year since 2003, while attending that year one of the guys who rode along in the 101 course told us that it was a year by year decision. HE SAID THAT JEEP LOSES A TON OF MONEY ON THE EVENT, He also told us then that the next Liberty would be along in '07 or '08 and that it would be 8 inchs longer and more off-roads capable. I get the feeling this guy was more than one of the usual college kids that work the event. I'm going too Jeep.com right now and do this. The only reason we didn't go this years is because we did our first Jamboree.

![]() I am the person who started the petition. Tom and I, along with my dad and his wife, attended Camp Jeep 2006. It was a great time... being able to meet new people and make new friends. Leaving them behind to come back home was the worst part of the trip, they are all like family now. I hope to attend Camp Jeep 2007 where we can meet up again and share some more great times with each other. Please take the time to sign the petition to keep Camp Jeep alive.

![]() How was the attendance at Camp Jeep this year? I also noticed they didn't have one on the west coast, like they have had the last couple years.
Also, they didn't host any Camp Jeep on the Road series this year. Could this be a percursor of what is ahead? |

![]() If anyone has been or is planning on going to Camp Jeep in the future please take the time to sign this. It is a great event and would be a real shame to not have this. I was at Camp Jeep this year and the rumor was they may not have again next year or may have it every other year. Regardless, Camp Jeep is a great event that we plan our family vacation around.
