I found this ditty in the Detroit News: SEMA Preview

All of Chrysler's SEMA vehicles are built by the Mopar Underground design team. They're the ultimate enthusiasts with the means to dream up and create just about anything on wheels. Included in Chrysler's SEMA lineup this year:
• Jeep Wrangler JT: A two-door Jeep with a 5-foot bed.
• Jeep Wrangler Ultimate: A Jeep Wrangler with a 392-cubic-inch Hemi crate engine and an overhauled interior.
• Jeep Wrangler All Access: A premium interior vehicle with excellent off-road capabilities and 35-inch tires.
• Dodge Caravan R/T: A minivan racer with a spoiler, hood scoop and 20-inch tires.
Another entry, the Dodge Avenger Tuner Stormtrooper includes a 4-liter V-6 for added power and Internet connectivity for all four passengers...

I guess my cries for more juice didn't go unanswered. Hook me up with that 392HEMI!

Have we seen this yet?

Is this a new version of the JT? Any photos out there?

It's the same hearing-aid beige JT we've been seeing since EJS earlier this year.

Autoblog has some photos. It's the same thing over again, but maybe now they'll build it. The Autoblog article also says that the spare is mounted on the tailgate, but the pictures don't show that.

AEV is showing off a 6.4L HEMI JK Unlimited at SEMA.

The All-Access is pretty neat looking, but they went a bit overboard with the blue paint IMHO.

Here we go again with these AEV people dangling the carrot. I read the linked to article at jeepin.com and noticed that the type of transmission was not mentioned. The last time I checked (a little over a year ago) AEV only did the HEMI conversion with an automatic transmission! I got that information from their web sight. Please tell me this has changed. They do a beautiful conversion. I was mesmerized by their orange wrangler conversion a year or so ago until I found out it was automatic. Apparently AEV, just like Chrysler, doesn't seem to think people who prefer to shift a manual transmission are worth considering when it comes to a HEMI. This seems a little strange to me. I must admit I have not seen the statistics. Can someone tell me the ratio of manual to automatic transmissions sold in the wrangler? Maybe so few people buy wrangles with a manual transmission that they will stop being offered soon. We can only hope that Chrysler is going to make a manual transmission available with the HEMI in the new Challenger!

I agree with you 100%.

I had a brief e-mail exchange with one of the guys at AEV a few years back on that very subject. He vehemently defended their choice of an AT versus a MT and wouldn't even offer me an option of a MT with the 5.7L HEMI. (He even hinted that a manual is no quicker 0-60 than an auto --which is total BS for 99+% of cars out there! Pissed me off!!) Jeez, they make one for the RAM 1500's... seems like you could just use that one, right? Or the one from the 500+HP Viper-powered RAM? Maybe, now, AEV does offer a MT with the HEMI now, but they don't state so on their website.

Like U said: makes no sense.

I can't believe the Charger, 300, and Magnum HEMIs don't offer a stick. Heck, even the Nitro R/T with the 4.0L-V6 doesn't offer a stick! Nor the new Dakota with the 300HP+ 4.7L-V8! I know the "standard figure" quoted for cars is that <10% are sold with MTs... but why wouldn't OEMs want to capture that extra 10%? And they'd be capturing that 10% at a higher MPG --which helps out the corporate CAFE req'ts! If you don't even offer the MT, then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Very goofy marketing strategy, IMHO!

I gotta believe the Wranglers are at/near the top of the list for the volume of MTs sold each year. In Europe, many more vehicles are offered/sold with MTs than in the U.S. --because MORE models are made with MTs. Gee, go figure.

If JEEP really wants to piss us off, all they have to do is offer the 4.0L-V6 option with AT only. Then I'll jump off the Chrysler building...
