I agree with Brian. If Jeep is to be sold, GM or Ford should buy it. I thought when Ford sold Land Rover that they could now make a case for acquiring Jeep. Put Ford on the Poll, and I'll vote for it.

Hyundai would be fine...better than GM imo. Ive owned 4 jeeps luvd em all....I too own a Hyundai and its been a great car with no issues after 95K and a buddy at work has one with 175K and no problems. Hyundai had a stigma about being sorry cheap little cars and they deserved this at that time. However, they have turned it around and are now making very well equipped cars at affordable prices that are dependable. I would buy a hyundai jeep without any worries based upon my own experience with hyundai....

Instead of fearing uncertainty with Jeep, why don't we (the Jeep owners of America) buy Jeep. I know it sounds crazy, but seriously think about it. Who knows what the average Jeep guy want better than the average Jeep guy. We as a group could finally get the JT into production or the diesel we want in the Wrangler. There is what, approximately 5 million jeep owners out there, maybe 1 or 2 million that would partake in the business venture. I figure we would need between 4 and 5 BILLION dollars to buy the brand from Cerebus. That is an initial investment of 2500 to 5000 from each Jeep owner (average). Obviously some will invest more and some less. The only stipulation is that you must OWN a Jeep to buy and invest in Jeep. We could focus on what real Jeep owners want out of our vehicles. Have it so every owners vote on the board counts and to keep from being taken over make it so every owner, regardless of investment, that owns a Jeep an owner of the company. I.E. there is one share automatically attched to every Jeep.

Mull this idea over, I think we can make it work.

At this point I am in favor of who ever can take Chrysler as a whole and keep it alive. I would hate to see Chrysler broke up and sold in pieces. GM was a bad idea from the get go and Nissan/Renault has a lot of their own problems. When I first heard Hyundai mentioned I threw up a little in my mouth but , after thinking about it it could be an interesting fit. I think they are one of the more progressive auto companies out there. I think one of their biggest problems is credibility and bringing Chrysler under the roof could give them a big boost in credibility and a real luxury division. They do have a desire to be a full line manufacturer and the purchase of CDJ gives them a truck division and Jeep. It could be interesting.

I'm leaning towards Mahindra. They would get the US manufacturing capability they want and they understand the value of simple rugged 4wd's. The odds of them screwing up Jeep from a design spirit are pretty low. I think we would get our diesel Jeeps too.

Renault-Nissan is interesting but I don't know how Jeep fits in with all their North American and global vehicles. They would have too many suv 4wd things with Jeep and what gets the axe and what doesn't?

Hyundai has nothing like Jeep in their line up and decent finances but I dunno how I would feel about that.

Funny thing is I would really rather see the above three buy them then Ford or GM at this point. Who cares if an American icon stays American if they completely f@%* it up or go bankrupt themselves?

That poll stinks, I'd vote for an American company for an american icon, but the only option is GM. And we all know GM already had their shot at a real off road brand in Hummer and screwed the pooch on that one. That leaves Ford and uh Ford as the only remaining domestic option, and it's not on the poll either. Don't make me choose!

I voted Renault-Nissan due to lack of the "I'd love to see a stand-alone Jeep company" option.
