A diesel variant of the all-new Jeep Patriot will debut at the Geneva Auto Show this month. The vehicle will only be available for markets outside of North America.
According to the auto show's web site, the diesel Patriot will have a 2-liter, 140bhp turbodiesel engine.
The aptly named Jeep Patriot Blog is reporting that the diesel Patriot will get 46 MPG! No word on their source for this impressive mileage though.

![]() Ive seen several Patriots in the past couple of months and they look nice but small. However, i would take the smaller size in a trade off for 46MPG...wow...

![]() With clean diesel fuel now required in all 50 states DCX could install the inline copper plate scrubbers used in Europe to remove the particulate (soot). With a fuel additive the new Diesels are as clean as the best ultra clean gas engines. I hate the Sierra Clubbers too, but they are not just in CA.

![]() Hi Mike: The 46.3 mpg figure was obtained from the Dodge Caliber page in http://www.dodge.co.uk. The European Caliber uses the same engine and it's basically the same platform as the Patriot. Bear in mind that the impressive 46.3 mpg figure is for combined city/hwy use. If you only take into account highway miles, the figure is even more impressive: 55.4 mpg !!

![]() 46MPG ... Come on Jeep! Bring it here and watch the soccer moms go nuts for you new SUVan. I wonder how much the torque and horsepower of the diesel would improve upon the sluggishness of the 4cyl gas?
If it's Congress or emissions laws that are stopping you, tell your customers to write their congressman, or tell Congress to take a look at Europe and how they've figured this out. Here's a market niche for ya, have the only American Made ALL Diesel line-up. I don't care how you do it, just get-er-done! |
