Autoweb.com, the leading consumer automotive Internet service, today announced the top ten most requested vehicle makes and models selected by Autoweb.com customers from March 15 to May 15, 1999. Honda Accord maintained the top ranking, with Honda Civic in a close second place. Sport utility vehicles held five of the top ten spots.
Autoweb.com compiles the top ten-vehicle list by reviewing completed purchase requests submitted from March 15, 1999 to May 15, 1999. Results were compared to the most requested vehicles from January 1, 1999 to March 15, 1999. Honda Accord maintained its top ranking and previously second-rated Toyota Camry slipped into fourth place. Ford Explorer (#3) and Ford Mustang (#8) maintained the exact same placements. Notable differences include the addition of the Ford Expedition, Toyota 4Runner and the Honda Odyssey, as well as the absence of the Chevrolet Silverado.
In filling out a purchase request, a prospective buyer provides details for their car of interest and submits the form online to Autoweb.com to initiate the purchase through the Autoweb.com network of over 4,900 top ranking Member Dealers in North America.
``Each week, tens of thousands of car buyers visit Autoweb.com to purchase their next vehicle. These inquiries provide an excellent measurement of the developments in the automotive retailing industry,'' said Dean DeBiase, President and CEO of Autoweb.com. ``Our top ten vehicle list is a key indicator for manufacturers and the financial community and illustrates trends in the marketplace.''
