Yahoo! News is reporting that the Highway Loss Data Institute issued a report yesterday saying the Jeep Wrangler (along with the Suzuki Sidekick) is "the most frequently stolen late model vehicles in the United States". According to the data, the Wrangler is 5.2 times more likely to be stolen than the average car.

I was reading some posts on rec.autos.makers.jeep+willys the other day and someone mentioned a "Tabasco" version of Wrangler. Well, I did a little searching and found this on the official Jeep site. Not only is a "Tabasco Wrangler" shown, but an "Ultimate Rescue" Jeep is also pictured. Wow, 2 days in a row that I've found something useful on the www.jeepunpaved.com - go figure.

Finally, I found some information on some recent late model Jeep recalls. The number of vehicles involved is relatively low, but I thought share it anyway...

Description of Defect: The front seat belt shoulder anchors were not properly heat treated and are not properly hardened. In the event of a vehicle crash, the front seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of serious injury. Remedy: Dealers will replace the front seat shoulder belt turning loop on these vehicles. Owner Notification: Owner notification is expected to begin during April 1998. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997.
