 Re: Dodge Nitro Costs Less Than Sister LibertySince when is the Grand Cherokee or the Commander a truck based SUV? They're not body-on-frame vehicles like a truck. The only truck based SUV in the Jeep lineup is the Wrangler and now the Unlimited.

Re: Dodge Nitro Costs Less Than Sister Liberty I have been thinking lately about the Jeep lineup when the new Unlimited, Liberty & Patriot comes out. You will have the Patriot, Liberty, Unlimited, Grand Cheorkee and Commander. All four doors.
Remember when there was just the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee to choose from if you wanted a family four Jeep. This is good for the consumer as we have lots to choose from, more than ever but they must be planning on going after a lot more market share because these vehicles are going to steal customers from each other. People that may not have considered a Wrangler before because of size and would have bought a Liberty, GC or Cherokee will now have the option of the Unlimited also. I think the Patriot is going to be a big hit and could steal customers away from the Liberty. It the new Liberty looks like a smaller Commander then it could steal customers from it. Over at GM they say they have no plans for a next generation TrailBlazer and at Ford the next Explorer is up in the air. Both truck based SUV's like the GC and Commander. With sales of truck based SUV's on the decline I wonder if they are planning a way to phase out the GC when it's life cycle is over in 4 or 5 years. The new Liberty is going to be bigger than the current model and I wonder if sales of mid-size truck based SUV's continue to fall they are planning for life with $3 plus fuel. Just my thoughts. I love my Commander though. |

Re: Dodge Nitro Costs Less Than Sister Liberty yeah, you can't really compare the '07 Nitro to the '06 KJ because they're different platforms. That's like comparing pricing on the Compass to the Neon.
Speaking of the Compass though, a fully loaded Dodge Caliber comes in about $3k less than a fully loaded Jeep Compass. The Compass has more available options though, which drive up the price. I wouldn't be suprised to see something similar with the redesigned Liberty vs the Nitro. I also have a feeling that the Nitro will be available in a more "base" version than the Liberty, ie: the Liberty will probably have more things standard, upping the price compared to the starting prices for a Nitro. |

Re: Dodge Nitro Costs Less Than Sister Liberty The Nitro's based on the new KK Liberty platform, isn't it? If that's so, then perhaps the '08 Liberty will be less expensive than the current KJ Liberty.
