WranglerWrangler Diesel Image?
Posted by mike on 2006/5/6 18:21:54 (8012) reads

Thanks to eagle-eyed reader jeepxk for noticing the the CRD badge on one of the Wrangler from the previous article's photos!

jeepxk posted his find in the reader reaction area - that's how we found out about it! This find leads to even more questions - are these photos from some testing of some 2007 Wrangler variants at the Superlift Offroad Vehicle Park in Arkansas?

When the 2.2-liter OM651 Mercedes is available in 2010, it eventually will replace all the VM Motori engines.

This site is good for news about diesels: http://www.dieselforecast.com/

Lots of info about bluetec and diesel in general.

Here is link specifically about the Bluetec in the E320. Hopefully this will find it's way into the JKL.

Sounds exciting - but if you scroll through the other pictures from "http://www.spydercustoms.com/index2.php" you'll notice that they were testing a 2-door euro-model (it has the plastic "fill-in" between the bumper and the fender). This shot that shows "CRD" is likely from that Jeep. That is, if the pictures from that site are from the same test group. I couldnt see the number on the windshield of the euro-jeep.

An addition to my previous post - The CRD badge is on the back of the no.1 Jeep (with hardtop). Another picture from spydercustoms shows the no.1 Jeep to be a US spec. Rubicon model (without a hardtop, however). Could it be the same Jeep?

*an edit: The CRD photo shows the Jeep has GY Wrangler AT's - the photo of the Euro-Jeep shows the same tires! The CRD badge must be from the Euro-Jeep!

CRD blah blah blah....we've heard about this several times and right now, all that we know is that they're probably meant for testing for markets outside of North America.....

Now with that said, when will it become available for us?!?!?!?

Come on DCX!!!! Do I really need to buy one from AEV Conversions?

How hard would it be to get the european version? I doubt AEV will be putting diesels in the wranglers.

Did you see the pic of the AEV booth @ Moab this year? The white TJ has a 2.8 CRD in it...

whether they offer it or not is another question.

I hadn't seen that. If they offer a conversion of the 2007 unlimited, I'd be willing to go that route. I want the Unlimited Rubicon so bad, but I need it to tow a 24' bay boat. The diesel could handle it.
